Salary / Pay Scale for Management Trainee in Odisha Power Transmission Corporation Limited (OPTCL)

Selected candidates for the role of Management Trainee (MT) at OPTCL can expect a consolidated stipend of Rs. 50,000/- per month during their training period. Upon successfully completing the training, they will transition to the role of Assistant Manager in the E-3 Grade. For SC/ST candidates, the minimum percentage of marks required is 50%.
Management Trainee (Telecom)
Degree in Electronics/ Instrumentation/ Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering with at least 60% marks in aggregate form a Recognized University / Institution or passing of Section A & B of IE (India) in relevant discipline with minimum 50% marks in aggregate. For SC/ST candidates, the minimum percentage of marks required is 50%.

Age Limit Specified by OPTCL for Management Trainees

For the Management Trainee position, candidates must be at least 21 years old and should not be over 32 years of age. OPTCL, however, acknowledges the importance of providing opportunities to various societal groups.

There are relaxations in the upper age limit, notably:

  • SC, ST, and SEBC candidates can avail an extension of 5 years.
  • Women candidates are also eligible for a 5-year relaxation.
  • For PwBD candidates, the age limit is relaxed by a substantial 10 years.

Selection Process for OPTCL Management Trainee

The selection process for the Management Trainee position at OPTCL is two-fold. Firstly, candidates will undergo a Computer-Based Test (CBT) that comprises 200 Multiple Choice Questions. This test will evaluate candidates on Subject Knowledge, Numerical / GK & Reasoning, and English Knowledge.

Notably, the CBT isn’t just about correct answers; there’s a penalty for wrong answers with a negative marking of 0.25 marks. Post the CBT, shortlisted candidates will proceed to the Personal Interview round.

The final merit list will be curated based on performances in both the CBT and Personal Interview, with an 80%-20% weightage respectively.
