To meet the technical and managerial functions of the Government of India, Indian Engineering Services (IES) Examination is conducted by UPSC to Recruit Indian Engineering Services (IES) Officers. IES officers are selected by the union government on the recommendations made by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). Indian Engineering Services Exam is a combined three-stage competitive examination conducted every year by the Union Public Service Commission.
UPSC has released its recruitment notification for Engineering Services Examination for the year 2019 to recruit Indian Engineering Services Officers in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering & Other Discipline. Preliminary / Stage-I Examination of the Engineering Services Examination for recruitment to the services/ posts mentioned above will be held by the Union Public Service Commission on 6th January, 2019
Name of Exam: UPSC ENGINEERING SERVICES EXAMINATION, 2019
Name of Organization:This Recruitment Exam Will Be Conducted By The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) and recruitment is for various Ministries and Departments of Government of India.
Post Name: Recruitment on the results of this examination will be made to the Services/ Posts under the following categories:-
- Category I – Civil Engineering.
- Category II – Mechanical Engineering.
- Category III – Electrical Engineering.
- Category IV – Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering.
Salary / Pay Scale in Indian (UPSC) Engineering Services: Officers will be given initial basic pay of Rs. 56,100/- with all usual allowances in Pay Matrix Level 10 of 7th CPC.
Total Vacancy: The number of vacancies to be filled on the results of the examination is expected to be approximately 581 including 34 vacancies for the Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) (23 vacancies for Locomotor Disability including Cerebral Palsy, Leprosy cured, Dwarfism, Acid Attack victims and Muscular Dystrophy & 11 vacancies for Hard of Hearing). The number of vacancies is liable to alteration.
Reservations will be made for candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Other Backward Classes and Physically Disabled Category in respect of vacancies as may be fixed by the Government of India.

Age Limit: A candidate for this examination must have attained the age of 21 years and must not have attained the age of 30 years on the 1st January, 2019 i.e., he/she must have been born not earlier than 2nd January, 1989 and not later than 1st January, 1998.

The examination shall be conducted according to the following plan :—
- Stage-I: Engineering Services (Preliminary / Stage-I) Examination (Objective Type Papers) for the selection of candidates for the Stage-II: Engineering Services (Main/Stage-II) Examination;
- Stage-II: Engineering Services (Main /Stage-II) Examination (Conventional Type Papers) and
- Stage-III : Personality Test
The Engineering Services (Preliminary / Stage-I) Examination will consist of two objective type (multiple choices) questions papers and carrying a maximum of 500 marks (Paper 1 – 200 Marks & Paper II – 300 Marks). Only those candidates who are declared by the Commission to have qualified in the Preliminary / Stage-I Examination in the year will be eligible for admission to the Main/Stage-II Examination of that year provided they are otherwise eligible for admission to the Main / Stage-II Examination. The Marks obtained in Preliminary/Stage-I Examination by the candidates who are declared qualified for admission to the Main/Stage-II Examination will be counted for determining their final order of merit. The number of candidates to be admitted to the Main / Stage-II Examination will be about six to seven time the total approximate number of vacancies to be filled in the year through this examination.
Application Fees: Candidates (excepting Female/SC/ST/ PH who are exempted from payment of fee) are required to pay a fee of Rs. 200/- (Rupees Two hundred only) either by depositing the money in any Branch of SBI by cash or by using net banking facility of State Bank of India.
