The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2025 notification has been officially released by the Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee, the organizing institute for this edition. GATE is a national-level exam that serves as a gateway for admissions into postgraduate programs and recruitment in Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) across India. The exam will be conducted as a Computer Based Test (CBT) for 30 different subjects, and this year’s examination dates are scheduled for February 1, 2, 15, and 16, 2025.

GATE 2025 will be an online examination, and applications can only be submitted through the official GATE 2025 website. The application process begins on August 24, 2024, and the regular application period will close on September 26, 2024. Candidates who miss this deadline can still apply during the extended period, which closes on October 7, 2024, albeit with a late fee.

The examination will feature questions in three formats: Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs), Multiple Select Questions (MSQs), and Numerical Answer Type (NAT) questions. These questions are designed to assess the candidates’ knowledge, analytical skills, and understanding of their chosen subject areas.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for GATE 2025, candidates must have completed or be in the final year of their Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Technology, Architecture, Science, Commerce, or Arts. Additionally, candidates pursuing or having completed higher degrees are also eligible to appear for the examination. The GATE score is not only a requisite for admissions into M.Tech, M.E., and Ph.D. programs but is also widely used by various PSUs for recruitment.

The GATE 2025 examination will be conducted across multiple sessions, and the exact schedule will be available on the GATE 2025 website. Admit cards will be available for download starting January 2, 2025. Candidates are advised to check the GATE website regularly for any updates or changes to the examination schedule.

The application fee for GATE 2025 varies by category. For female candidates and those belonging to SC, ST, or PwD categories, the fee is ₹900 during the regular period and ₹1400 during the extended period. For all other candidates, the fee is ₹1800 during the regular period and ₹2300 during the extended period.

Examination Pattern

The GATE 2025 examination will have a duration of three hours, and candidates will answer a total of 65 questions, carrying a maximum of 100 marks. The paper will include questions from General Aptitude as well as the subject selected by the candidate. The marking scheme includes negative marking for incorrect answers in the MCQ section, but there is no negative marking for MSQs and NAT questions.

Preparing for GATE 2025 requires a strong foundation in your chosen subject, along with good analytical and problem-solving skills. Since the exam includes a mix of different question types, candidates should practice thoroughly with previous years’ papers and mock tests available on the official GATE website. Post-Examination Process
