Eligibility Criteria: Education, Age, and Experience Requirements

Candidates must ensure they meet the eligibility criteria as of the closing date for online applications (25.05.2025). Only Indian Nationals aged 18 and above are eligible.

  • Scientific Assistant:
    • Education: First Class B.Sc. in Chemistry from a recognized University.
    • Experience: 5 years of experience.
    • Age Limit: 35 years.
  • Engineering Assistant:
    • Education: First Class 3-year Diploma in Engineering/Technology (Electrical/Civil).
    • Experience: 5 years of experience in the relevant field.
    • Age Limit: 35 years.
  • Technician Grade 1:
    • Education: ITI Trade Certificate in Electrical.
    • Experience: Not explicitly mentioned, assumed none required beyond ITI.
    • Age Limit: 28 years.
  • Junior Hindi Translator:
    • Education: A Degree from a recognized University with Hindi & English as Elective subjects.

Salary Structure and Benefits

Selected candidates will be placed in the following pay scales as per the 7th CPC pay matrix, along with standard government allowances and benefits:

  • Scientific Assistant: Level 6 (₹35,400 – ₹1,12,400) 
  • Engineering Assistant: Level 6 (₹35,400 – ₹1,12,400) 
  • Technician Gr. 1: Level 2 (₹19,900 – ₹63,200) 
  • Junior Hindi Translator: Level 6 (₹35,400 – ₹1,12,400) 
  • Assistant Gr. II: Level 4 (₹25,500 – ₹81,100) 
  • Assistant Librarian: Level 4 (₹25,500 – ₹81,100) 

Benefits: Include Leave, LTC, Medical benefits, and other allowances as per Government of India norms applicable to CPRI employees.

Probation: All posts have an initial probation period of 2 years.

Selection Process: How CPRI Selects Candidates

The selection process varies slightly depending on the post:

  1. Computer Based Test (CBT): All candidates will undergo a Computer Based Test (MCQ type). Selection is based purely on the merit rank in this all-India test. The test will be conducted by an independent Government Agency.
  2. Skill Test / Trade Test:
    • Scientific Assistant & Engineering Assistant: Candidates qualifying the CBT will undergo a job-specific practical skill test.
    • Technician Gr. 1: Candidates qualifying the CBT must also qualify a Trade Test.
    • Junior Hindi Translator, Assistant Gr. II, Assistant Librarian: Selection is based solely on CBT performance.
  3. Document Verification: Candidates shortlisted based on CBT (and Skill/Trade test where applicable) will be called for Document Verification. Original documents related to age, education, experience (if applicable), caste/category, NOC (if applicable), etc., must be produced.

Exam Centres: Kolkata, Bengaluru, Nagpur, Hyderabad, Bhopal, Noida/Delhi (Subject to change by CPRI).

Application Fee Details

The non-refundable application fee (inclusive of GST) is as follows:

  • Scientific Assistant, Engineering Assistant, Junior Hindi Translator: ₹1000/- per post.
  • Technician Gr.1, Assistant Gr. II, Assistant Librarian: ₹700/- per post.

Exemptions: SC/ST/PwBD/Ex-servicemen/Women candidates are exempted from paying the application fee.
