How Defence Recruitment Works
The Army, Navy and Air Force take soldiers, sailors and airmen as Agniveers for four years; up to a quarter of each batch can be offered regular service after that. Officers join through UPSC’s NDA and CDS exams, the Air Force’s AFCAT, and entries without a written exam such as the Army’s technical entries. The Coast Guard runs its own sailor and officer recruitments, and the central armed police forces recruit through SSC. The list above shows every defence form open today. The table below covers the regular entries, as per their latest notices.

Check These Before You Apply
- Marital status: NDA, CDS, Navy Agniveer and Army SSC (Tech) men’s entries are for unmarried candidates, and Navy Agniveers may not marry during their four years.
- Age is a birth-date window: most entries print the dates between which you must be born, and Navy Agniveer gives no category relaxation.
- Physical and medical standards decide as much as the written exam: Agniveer and sailor entries include running tests, and every entry ends with a medical examination.
- Officer entries end in an SSB interview lasting up to five days; the Army’s technical entries go straight to it on degree marks.
- Apply only on the official website of the service or UPSC. Every GovtJobsAlert post links the official notice.
