Two commissions fill most regular Goa government posts. GPSC recruits for posts such as Junior Scale Officer of the Goa Civil Service, Mamlatdar, lecturers and medical teachers at Goa Medical College. GSSC fills Group C posts such as Lower Division Clerk, Junior Assistant, Data Entry Operator and Goa Police constable, and also recruits Primary School Teachers, mainly through computer-based tests. The Directorate of Health Services hires contract doctors directly, while Goa Shipyard and Goa University run their own recruitment. Check These Before You Apply
- Konkani is essential: GPSC, GSSC and Goa University notices list knowledge of Konkani as essential and Marathi as desirable (the latest DHS walk-in lists Konkani as desirable). In recent GSSC notices, CBT-I has a 10-mark Konkani section and you need at least 4 marks in it. GPSC may relax Konkani for some medical and professional college posts if no suitable candidate is found.
- 15 years in Goa: GSSC and Goa University notices ask for a valid certificate of 15 years’ residence in Goa, and GSSC also asks for registration with the Employment Exchange, Goa.
- Upper age limit of 45: GSSC and Goa University allow up to 45 years for most posts (one GSSC notice set 30 for State Tax Inspector). GSSC’s latest clerk notice adds 5 years for SC and ST and 3 for OBC, but a reserved candidate who uses an age relaxation cannot move to an Unreserved seat on merit. - No negative marking at GSSC: recent GSSC notices say the CBT has no negative marking. The pass mark is 45% for Unreserved, 40% for OBC and 35% for SC and ST candidates.
