SCL Recruitment 2026: 83 Vacancies for Technician ‘B’, Technical Assistant, JPA and Officer Posts
Semi-Conductor Laboratory (SCL), an autonomous body under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, has announced 83 regular vacancies at its Mohali campus. The biggest numbers are 41 Technician ‘B’ and 30 Technical Assistant posts, with 7 Junior Personal Assistant posts and 5 officer posts alongside. Pay runs from Level 3 to Level 10. Among central government jobs, a chip-making lab is a rare place to work.
Applications run from 1 November 2026 (11:00 am) to 30 November 2026 (5:00 pm), online only. PwBD and ex-servicemen seats are horizontal, meaning they sit inside the totals above and are not extra. Technician ‘B’ carries 2 ESM seats across all trades, and Technical Assistant has none. There is no ST seat in any Technician ‘B’ trade.

For the three officer posts, experience must be supervisory (at least Level 6 of the pay matrix, or a CTC of at least 10 LPA), gained after the required qualification, in a government office, public body or reputed commercial organisation. MBA degrees other than those named are not eligible. For Technical Assistant and Technician ‘B’, experience means 2 years in an R&D institute, reputed organisation or industry, as the post requires.

The totals are the notification’s own approximate figures. On top of basic pay you get DA, HRA (if you do not use SCL housing) and transport allowance, and you come under the National Pension System. To qualify, UR candidates need 50%, OBC (NCL) and EWS 45%, and SC, ST, PwBD and ESM 40% (as applicable to the post, against reserved seats). Candidates are called for the next stage in a ratio of 1:5 to category-wise seats, with a minimum of 10. Qualifying the CBT alone does not guarantee a call. For JPA, Technical Assistant and Technician ‘B’, final selection is on CBT marks, among those who qualify the skill test. Ties are broken by Part B marks, then Part A, then older age. The CBT is held in eight cities, and the skill test and interview only in Mohali or Chandigarh. Shortlisted candidates also go through document verification with originals and photocopies.
For the JPA skill test you take dictation of 800 words at 80 words per minute in 10 minutes, then transcribe on a computer in 50 minutes (English) or 65 minutes (Hindi). You can apply for only one officer or JPA post. You may apply for both Technical Assistant and Technician ‘B’, one trade each, but each needs a separate application and fee. After submission no changes are allowed, and incomplete forms are rejected. Admit cards come only by email and SMS and on the SCL website.

The Technical Assistant and Technician ‘B’ tests are conducted separately, one in a morning slot and one in an afternoon slot. On exam day carry the admit card printout, two passport-size colour photographs and an original photo ID showing your date of birth. Without them you will not be allowed to sit the exam.

Everyone pays the full fee first. The ₹600 processing fee is never refunded. The application fee part is refunded only to women, SC, ST, PwBD and ex-servicemen who actually appear in the CBT. Payment is online only, and service charges are yours to bear.
Conditions That Can Cost You the Job

Meeting the minimum eligibility does not by itself get you a CBT call. SCL may also cancel or change test venues, and it can cancel, restrict or increase vacancies.
