The biggest intake is in Gujarat and Assam, where Nazira & Sivasagar, Ankleshwar, Ahmedabad and Mehsana each have hundreds of seats. Your home or study district decides which centres you may choose, so check the district table first and then compare seat counts. A centre with many seats is not automatically easier, because everyone from that region competes for it on marks.

What is the Selection Process for ONGC Apprentice Recruitment 2026?

Selection is merit-based on marks in your qualifying examination. A tie goes to the older candidate. Shortlisting does not give you a right to engagement.

Provisional merit listMade trade-wise and work centre-wise
ShortlistingIn a ratio ONGC decides, shown on the ONGC website or sent by email
Document verificationOriginals plus self-attested copies
Final merit listReservation roster applied as per Government of India policy

Because marks decide everything, your qualifying exam percentage is the one number you cannot change now, so make sure it is entered exactly as on your mark sheet. Keep your mark sheets, ITI or degree certificate, date-of-birth proof, and category or PwBD certificate ready. Reservation for SC/ST/OBC/EWS/PwBD follows government guidelines, and the notification gives no category-wise seat split.

How to Apply Online for ONGC Apprentice Recruitment 2026?

StepAction
1Check your trade, age and eligible district. Decide on one sector, one work centre and one trade
2Register first on the NAPS portal for NAPS trades, or the NATS portal for NATS trades (links below)
3Keep the registration details the portal gives you, as they are needed later
4Find the ONGC apprentice opening on that portal and fill in your qualification and personal details correctly

Pick the trade carefully before you submit, because you apply for only one and the form is the only thing ONGC reads at the first stage. Both portals accept applications from 29 October 2026.
