Of the 1,500 seats, 48 are for PwBD candidates (VI 12, HI 12, OH 13, ID 11). This is a horizontal reservation, so a selected PwBD candidate is placed in their own category (SC, ST, OBC or Unreserved). Tamil Nadu (270) and Uttar Pradesh (285) hold the most seats. Several small states and UTs have only 1 or 2 seats, all Unreserved. At registration you can choose three preferred districts in your state, and the Bank allots the district at its discretion.

| Condition | What it means for you |

| Scribe | If your scribe answers independently, your candidature is cancelled and you and the scribe may be debarred from all Bank exams for two years |
| Compensatory time | Extra time for eligible PwBD candidates is system based, so you must register for it in the application; if not registered, you will not get it |
| Signature | If your signature at the exam does not match the uploaded one, you will be disqualified |
| Secrecy | During and after training, you must not disclose any information about the Bank or its customers |

| OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) | 31 years (3 years relaxation) |

🎂 Not sure if you meet the age criteria? Use our free Age Calculator for Government Exams to find your exact age on the cut-off date and instantly check your eligibility — including any age relaxation you qualify for. →
You should be born between 2 November 1998 and 1 November 2006 (both days included) to fit the base limit. OBC and SC/ST relaxation can be added to only one of the PwBD or 1984 riots relaxations. Age relaxation certificates are checked at the interview or any later stage.
What is the Indian Bank Apprentice Salary (Stipend) in 2026?
| Branch Type | Total Stipend per Month | Bank Share (max) |
|---|---|---|
| Metro / Urban | ₹15,000 | ₹8,850 |
| Rural / Semi-Urban | ₹12,300 | ₹6,150 |
The Government share is up to ₹6,150 in both cases. Apprentices are not eligible for any other allowances or benefits, and overtime is not allowed. You get one casual leave per completed month (maximum 4 at a time), and you need more than 338 paid days to earn the digital Certificate of Proficiency from BOAT(SR) on the NATS portal. The training gives no right to claim a job in the Bank afterwards.
Think before you sign the contract. If you leave mid-way, you can do so only at month end and must pay one month’s stipend as termination cost. If you drop out or abscond during a quarter, you must refund the stipend paid for that quarter. Misconduct or poor performance can lead to termination after 7 days’ notice. These are the terms of the apprenticeship contract, so read them once before you accept a seat in a branch far from home.
What is the Selection Process for Indian Bank Apprentice 2026?
| Stage | Detail |
|---|---|
| 1. Online Test | Objective multiple-choice test, composite 60 minutes |
| 2. Local Language Proficiency Test | Held after you qualify the online test; failing it means you are not engaged |
| 3. Interview | Only if the Bank chooses; the Bank may dispense with it |
| 4. Document verification | Certificates and age or category proofs are checked |
| 5. Medical fitness | Bank’s medical practitioner or a doctor’s certificate |
| Online Test Section | Questions / Marks |
|---|---|
| Reasoning Aptitude | 15 / 15 |
| Computer Knowledge | 10 / 10 |
| English Language | 25 / 25 |
| Quantitative Aptitude | 25 / 25 |
| General Awareness (with special reference to Banking Industry) | 25 / 25 |
| Whole test | 100 questions, 100 marks |
The test is in major regional languages as decided by the Bank, but the English Language section is in English. You must score the minimum aggregate percentage the Bank decides, with a 5% relaxation for SC, ST, OBC and PwBD candidates; there is no sectional cut-off. Merit is State/UT-wise and category-wise on aggregate marks, and ties go to the older candidate. The notification does not state the passing percentage. You are exempt from the language test if your 8th, 10th or 12th mark sheet shows you studied that local language. Study with the banking syllabus and exam pattern guide while the exam date is awaited.
