Educational Qualification
You need a full-time B.E. / B.Tech / B.Sc (Engg.) from a recognised university or institute, with at least 60% marks or an equivalent CGPA, and a valid GATE 2026 score in the matching paper.

- Final year or final semester students who expect their results by 14 August 2026 can apply if they had at least 60% up to the pre-final exam. Selection stays subject to securing 60% in the final qualification.
- For SC, ST and PwBD candidates, the qualifying marks are relaxed to pass marks on posts reserved for their category.
- Only a GATE 2026 score counts. A GATE 2025 or earlier score is not valid.
- Only Indian nationals aged 18 or above are eligible.
- Graduates who want to go for further studies on the basis of GATE 2026, or who need extra time to join, should not apply.

What is the Salary of PGCIL Engineer Trainee 2026?
This is one of the best parts of the job. During the one-year training you get the scale of ₹40,000 – 3% – ₹1,40,000 (IDA), with basic pay of ₹40,000 plus IDA, HRA and perks at 12% of basic. The CTC in training is about ₹11.00 lakhs a year.

CTC varies with the place of posting. Regular employees also get performance related pay, company leased accommodation or HRA, conveyance reimbursement, laptop facility, PF, gratuity, pension, group insurance and medical facilities for self and dependents.

- Candidates working in a government organisation or PSU must produce a No Objection Certificate at the interview.
