Eligibility Criteria for GPSSB Work Assistant
Candidates must ensure they meet the following eligibility criteria before applying:
- Educational Qualification:
- A diploma in Civil Engineering obtained from the Technical Examination Board or any of the Universities established or incorporated by or under the Central or a State Act in India; or any other Educational Institutions recognised as such or declared to be deemed as a University under section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956; or possess an equivalent qualification recognised by the Government.
- Important Note: Candidates holding a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering are not eligible to apply.
- Basic knowledge of computer application as prescribed in the Gujarat Civil Services Classification and Recruitment (General) Rules, 1967.
- Adequate knowledge of Gujarati or Hindi or both.
- Age Limit (as of June 10, 2025):
- Not more than 33 years of age.
- Relaxations in the upper age limit are applicable for reserved categories, women, PwD, and Ex-Servicemen as per government rules, up to a maximum of 45 years.

Salary and Benefits for GPSSB Work Assistant
Selected candidates will be appointed on a contractual basis for the first five years with a fixed pay of ₹26,000 per month. After the satisfactory completion of five years, they will be eligible for a regular appointment in the pay matrix level-4 (₹25,500 – ₹81,100) as per the 7th Pay Commission, subject to government rules and regulations. Other allowances and perks will be applicable as per prevailing government norms.
Selection Process for GPSSB Work Assistant
The selection process will involve the following stages:
- Written Examination: A competitive written examination (Objective Type – MCQs) will be conducted. The exam will be for a total of 200 marks with a duration of three hours. The syllabus includes:
- General Awareness and General Knowledge (35 Marks, Gujarati Medium)
- Gujarati Language and Grammar (20 Marks, Gujarati Medium)
- English Language and Grammar (20 Marks, English Medium)
- General Mathematics, Reasoning & Data Interpretation (25 Marks, Gujarati Medium)
- Questions assessing the requisite knowledge for the job and technical knowledge with regard to the educational qualification (100 Marks, Gujarati Medium)
- Negative Marking: There will be a negative marking of 0.33 marks for each wrong answer, each blank answer, or if more than one option is selected. Candidates can choose option “E” (Not Attempted) to avoid negative marking for that question.
- Document Verification: Candidates shortlisted based on the written examination will be called for document verification.
- Final Merit List & District Allotment: A final merit list will be prepared, and district allotment will be done based on merit and category.
How to Apply Online for GPSSB Work Assistant Recruitment 2025
Candidates must apply online through the OJAS (Online Job Application System) website. Follow these steps:
- Visit the official OJAS website.
- Go to “Current Advertisement” and then “View All.” Select “GUJARAT PANCHAYAT SERVICE SELECTION BOARD (GPSSB)” under “Select Advertisement by Department”.
- Find the advertisement for “Work Assistant” (Advertisement No. 17/2025-26) and click on it.
- Read the detailed notification carefully by clicking on “Details”.
- Click on “Apply.” You can apply either “Apply With OTR” (One Time Registration) if you have an OTR number or by skipping it and filling in all details manually.
- Fill in all required personal details, communication details, educational qualifications, and other necessary information.
- Upload a recent passport-size photograph (up to 15 kb) and signature (up to 15 kb) in JPG format. Keep multiple copies of the same photograph for future use.
- Read the “Declaration,” accept the terms by clicking “Yes,” and then “Save” the application. An “Application Number” will be generated; save it for future reference.
- Click on “Confirm Application,” enter your Application Number and Birth Date, and click “OK.” Review your application using “Show Application Preview”.
- If all details are correct, click on “Confirm Application.” Once confirmed, no changes can be made. A “Confirmation Number” will be generated, which is crucial for all future correspondence.
- Take a printout of the confirmed application form and keep it safe.
- General category candidates need to pay the application fee online.
Application Fees for GPSSB Work Assistant
- General Category: ₹100 + Service Charge.
- SC/ST/SEBC/EWS/Ex-Servicemen/PwD Categories: No application fee is required.
- Mode of Payment: Online through SBI e-Pay (Debit Card, UPI, Internet Banking, NEFT, Credit Card).
- If General category candidates are unable to pay the fee online by the deadline, they can pay a process fee of ₹500 in cash at the GPSSB office between June 11, 2025, and June 13, 2025, during office hours, provided their online application was confirmed.
