Eligibility Criteria for BEE Recruitment 2025
Candidates must fulfill the specific eligibility criteria related to educational qualifications, age limit, and experience for each post.
Deputy Director General (Finance)
- Mode of Recruitment: Deputation or Short Term Contract basis.
- Educational Qualifications & Experience:
- Officers of Central or State Government or Union Territories or Public Sector Undertakings or Universities or Recognized Research Institutions or Autonomous or Statutory Organizations:
- Holding analogous posts on a regular basis; OR
- With three years’ service in Level-13 (Rs.123100−215900) on a regular basis.
- Essential: Master’s Degree in Economics or Applied Economics or Business Administration with Finance Specialization or Industrial Economics or Energy Planning and Economics from a recognized University.
- Essential Experience: Minimum of sixteen (16) years in financial matters or industrial financing activities in Government Departments or Public Sector Undertakings or Universities or Financial Institutions or Autonomous or Statutory Organizations.
- Of the 16 years, two (2) years of experience should have been at a senior level in Financing of Energy Efficiency or Energy related projects or Development or Promotion of Financing Mechanism for innovative Financing for Energy Efficiency Projects.
- Desirable:
- Doctorate Degree in Economics or Applied Economics or Business or Industrial Economics or Energy Planning and Economics.
- Experience in working in Institutions or Organizations handling financial instruments.
- Preference for persons with an overall perspective of National Energy Issues and Policies.
- Officers of Central or State Government or Union Territories or Public Sector Undertakings or Universities or Recognized Research Institutions or Autonomous or Statutory Organizations:
- Age Limit: Not exceeding fifty-eight years for deputation and fifty years for short-term contract as on the closing date of receipt of applications.
Joint Director (Technical)

- With five years regular service in pay level-10 (Rs.56100−177500).
- Essential Education:
- Master’s degree in Physics or Chemistry or Mathematics or Economics from a recognized University; OR

- Possessing Certificate as energy manager or energy auditor based on the National Examination under the Energy Conservation Act, 2001.
- Essential Experience: Five years of post-qualification experience in dealing with energy efficiency matters in industry, transport, or building.

Assistant Director (Technical)
- Mode of Recruitment: By Direct Recruitment based on valid GATE Score.
- Educational Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Physics or Chemistry or Economics or Mathematics from a recognized University; OR
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from a recognized University.
- Age Limit: Up to Thirty-five years. (Relaxable for Government servants up to five years).

Joint Director (Non-Technical)
- Mode of Recruitment: By Deputation.
- Eligibility: Officers of Central/State Governments or Statutory/Autonomous Bodies under Central/State Governments.

- With five years regular service in pay level-11 (Rs.67700−208700).

Salary and Benefits in BEE

Officers selected on a deputation basis shall be entitled to draw pay/deputation (duty) allowance in accordance with existing Government of India instructions.
Period of Deputation
- Deputy Director General (Finance): Ordinarily not exceed five years. For short-term contract, the period (including deputation) shall not exceed three years.
- Joint Director (Technical/Non-Technical): Shall not exceed four years.
- Deputy Director (Technical/Non-Technical): Shall not exceed four years.
- Assistant Director (HR/Finance): Shall not exceed three years.
- Assistant Director (Media): Shall not exceed four years.
Selection Process for BEE Jobs
The selection process varies depending on the mode of recruitment for each post:
- For Deputation Posts: Selection will be based on the assessment of applications, eligibility, experience, and potentially an interview. The selection committee will assess the Curriculum Vitae (CV) duly supported by documents.
- For Assistant Director (Technical) – Direct Recruitment: Selection will be based on a valid GATE Score in the order of merit. The Bureau of Energy Efficiency will fix the cut-off GATE score for ranking. A Departmental selection committee will recommend candidates based on GATE scores.
- Document Verification: All selections will be subject to verification of original documents. For deputation posts, vigilance clearance and ACR dossiers are mandatory.
