AFMS Medical Officer Selection Process 2025

The selection process involves multiple stages:

  1. Shortlisting for Interview: Applications are scrutinized, and candidates are shortlisted based on their NEET PG marks/percentile. The percentile score is proportionally converted into “calculated NEET PG marks” out of 200. Candidates are called for interviews in order of merit (separate lists for males and females) up to 8 times the number of vacancies.
  2. Interview (Viva-voce): Shortlisted candidates attend an interview conducted by a Board of Officers at Army Hospital (R&R), Delhi Cantt. The interview assesses suitability and merit for the commission and carries a maximum of 50 marks. A minimum of 50% marks (25 marks) is required to qualify the interview. Candidates appearing for the first time receive travel allowance (AC III/AC Chair Car rail fare or Govt Non-AC bus fare).
  3. Medical Examination: Candidates qualifying the interview undergo a Special Medical Examination Board (SMB) to assess medical fitness according to laid-down standards. Those found ‘UNFIT’ can appeal for an Appeal Medical Board (AMB) and subsequently a Review Medical Board (RMB) at the discretion of DGAFMS. Pregnancy detected at any stage results in temporary unfitness.
  4. Final Merit List: Separate merit lists for male and female candidates are prepared by adding the “calculated NEET PG marks” (out of 200) and interview marks (out of 50) for those who qualify the interview (minimum 50% marks). Merely qualifying the interview doesn’t guarantee selection.
  5. Joining Instructions: Candidates declared medically fit are issued joining instructions based on their position in the final merit list, up to the number of available vacancies.
