MPSC Eligibility Criteria 2025
Candidates must meet the specified educational qualifications and age limits as of the application closing date (May 18, 2025).
Educational Qualification:
- Senior Scientific Assistant: M.Sc in Chemistry/Physics OR M.Sc Forensic Science with specialization in Document examination/Forensic Science at the degree level.
- Soil & Water Conservation Ranger: Diploma holder in Civil Engineering from a recognized Institution. Must also pass physical and medical tests.
- Environmental Planning and Protection Assistant: Graduate in Science with Botany/Zoology/Chemistry/Bio-Chemistry/Environmental Science/Forestry as a subject at the degree level.
- Librarian: Graduate in any discipline with a Diploma in Library Science/Management.
- Important Note: Degrees/certificates from the Institution of Electronics and Telecommunications Engineers (India) and the Aeronautical Society of India obtained after 31.05.2013 are not admissible for these posts. Eligibility for Institution of Engineers (India) degrees obtained post 31.05.2013 is subject to government decisions.
Age Limit (as of 01.01.2025):
- All Posts: Candidates must be between 18 and 32 years old.
- Relaxation:
- Upper age limit relaxable by 5 years for SC/ST candidates.
- No age bar for regular Meghalaya Government employees who entered service within the prescribed age limit.
- Age relaxation for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) as per government norms (up to 10-15 years depending on post category and ST/SC status).
- Proof of Age: Only Matriculation/Secondary School Leaving Certificate or equivalent recognized certificate will be accepted as proof of date of birth.

- Librarian: Level 8 (Allowances and other benefits will be as per Meghalaya Government rules)
MPSC Selection Process 2025
The selection process for these MPSC posts will involve the following stages:
- Screening Test: A multiple-choice question (MCQ) based test will be conducted. The subjects vary by post:
- Sr. Scientific Assistant: General English (100 Marks), Forensic Science/Chemistry/Physics (Master Degree Level – 200 Marks). Total: 300 Marks.
- Soil & Water Cons. Ranger: General English (50 Marks), General Knowledge (50 Marks), Civil Engineering (Diploma Level – 200 Marks). Total: 300 Marks.
- Librarian: General English (50 Marks), General Knowledge (50 Marks), Library Science/Management (Diploma Level – 200 Marks). Total: 300 Marks.
- Environmental Planning Asst.: General English (50 Marks), General Knowledge (50 Marks), Mathematics (Class X Standard – 100 Marks), Science (12th Standard – 100 Marks). Total: 300 Marks.
- Examination Centers: Shillong, Tura, Jowai, Williamnagar & Nongstoin.
- Personal Interview: Candidates who pass the Screening Test will be called for a Personal Interview. The ratio of candidates called will be decided by MPSC. Original documents verifying eligibility (education, age, caste, etc.) must be produced for interview qualification.
- Document Verification: Final selection is subject to verification of all original documents.
