- Full-time Diploma in Civil Engineering, OR
- Full-time Diploma in Engineering in Mechanical / Production / Production & Industrial / Manufacturing / Mechanical & Automobile discipline, OR
- Full-time Diploma in Engineering in Electrical / Electrical & Electronics.
- The Diploma must be from an Institution recognized by AICTE/BTE or a recognized University.
- Minimum Marks:
- UR/EWS candidates (and reserved category candidates applying against UR posts) need a minimum of 50% marks.
- Reserved category candidates (SC/ST/OBC(NCL)/PWD) applying against reserved posts (where applicable) need at least 45% marks.
- Experience:
- Minimum 3 years of post-qualification work experience is required.
- Training/internship/teaching/academic/fellowship/PhD research experience will not be counted.
- Age Limit:
- Maximum age is 40 years as of 14.05.2025.
- Age relaxation is applicable for OBC(NCL)/SC/ST/PWD/Ex-SM candidates as per government orders against reserved posts. PWD candidates get a relaxation of 10 years.

Salary & Benefits: RITES Resident Engineer Pay Scale
Selected candidates will receive an attractive remuneration package:
- Basic Pay: Rs. 16,828/- per month.
- Annual Increment: 1% to 3% based on performance.
- Allowances: 70% in Non-metro cities, 75% in Metro Cities (excluding Mumbai/Bangalore), 80% for Mumbai/Bangalore.

- Medical & Accidental Insurance for self.
- Employer’s PF Contribution @ 12%.
- Indicative Gross Emoluments: Approximately INR 30,627/- per month (including employer PF) for non-metro posting.
- Approximate CTC: INR 3.67 Lacs per annum.

Selection Process: How RITES Selects Resident Engineers
The selection process for the RITES Resident Engineer position involves three rounds:
- Round 1: Written Test:
- Objective type questions (125 questions, 1 mark each).
- Duration: 2.5 Hours (Additional 50 minutes for PWD candidates).
- No negative marking.
- Qualifying Marks: Minimum 50% for UR/EWS and 45% for SC/ST/OBC(NCL)/PwBD (against reserved posts).
- Test Centers: Guwahati, Kolkata, Delhi/NCR.
- The syllabus covers Engineering Mathematics, Applied Mechanics, Strength of Materials, Structural Analysis, Surveying, Building Materials, Fluid Mechanics, Transportation Engineering, Environmental & Geotechnical Engineering, Project Management, and discipline-specific topics (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical), along with general aptitude and awareness.
- Round 2: Competency Test:
- Conducted by the client for candidates qualifying Round 1.
- Qualifying Marks: Minimum 95% required for panel consideration.
- Tentative syllabus will be shared with qualified candidates.
- Round 3: Document Verification:
- Undertaken by RITES for candidates qualifying Rounds 1 & 2, based on vacancy numbers.
- Candidates must produce original documents for verification. Failure to do so leads to cancellation.
Final appointment is subject to qualifying all stages, medical fitness, and successful verification of original documents at the time of joining.
