Indian Army TGC Eligibility Criteria
Candidates must fulfill the following criteria to be eligible:
- Nationality:
- A citizen of India, or
- A subject of Nepal, or
- A person of Indian origin who has migrated from specific countries (Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries) with the intention of permanently settling in India (requires a certificate of eligibility). Gorkha subjects of Nepal do not require this certificate.
- Marital Status: Unmarried Male. Candidates must not marry until they complete their full training at IMA. Marrying during training or after application submission (if successful) will lead to discharge or cancellation of candidature.
- Age Limit:
- 20 to 27 years as on 01 January 2026.
- Candidates must be born between 02 January 1999 and 01 January 2006 (both dates inclusive).
- Date of Birth as per Matriculation/Secondary School Examination Certificate is final.
- Educational Qualification:
- Must have passed the requisite Engineering Degree course OR be in the final year of the Engineering Degree course.
- Final year candidates must be able to submit proof of passing the Engineering Degree Examination along with marksheets of all semesters/years by 01 January 2026.
- The Engineering Degree must be in one of the notified streams.
- Candidates whose final year/semester exams are scheduled after 01 Jan 2026 are NOT eligible.
- Minimum cumulative percentage of marks up to the final semester/year must meet the approved cut-off percentage (fixed after shortlisting). For final year students appearing for SSB, the cumulative percentage up to the 6th semester (Engg Degree)/ 8th semester (B.Arch)/ 2nd semester (M.Sc) must not be below the cut-off.
- Physical Standards: Candidates must meet minimum physical standards before joining the academy, including running, push-ups, pull-ups, swimming, etc.. Medical standards as per official website apply.

Indian Army Officer Salary & Benefits (TGC Entry)
Selected candidates are entitled to a range of benefits and a handsome pay scale upon commissioning.
- Stipend During Training: ₹56,100/- per month (Starting Pay in Level 10) during the training period at IMA.
- Rank and Pay Scale (Post-Commissioning):
- Lieutenant: Level 10 (₹56,100 – 1,77,500)
- Captain: Level 10B (₹61,300 – 1,93,900)
- Major: Level 11 (₹69,400 – 2,07,200)
- Lt Colonel: Level 12A (₹1,21,200 – 2,12,400)
- (Further promotions up to COAS Level 18: ₹2,50,000/- fixed)
- Military Service Pay (MSP): ₹15,500/- per month fixed (Lieutenant to Brigadier).

Indian Army TGC Selection Process
The selection involves multiple stages:
- Shortlisting of Applications: Based on the cumulative percentage of marks obtained up to the final semester/year in the engineering degree. Cut-off percentages are decided by the Integrated HQ of MoD (Army) for each stream.
- SSB Interview: Shortlisted candidates are called for a Service Selection Board (SSB) interview at one of the selection centers (Prayagraj, Bhopal, Bengaluru, Jalandhar).
- Stage I: Screening test. Candidates qualifying Stage I proceed to Stage II. Those failing Stage I are returned the same day.
- Stage II: Includes Psychologist tests, Group Testing Officer (GTO) tasks, and a Personal Interview conducted over five days.
- Medical Examination: Candidates recommended after Stage II undergo a medical examination. Standards are available on the official website.
- Merit List: Prepared engineering stream-wise based on SSB interview marks. Older candidates rank higher in case of a tie in SSB marks. If age is also tied, higher percentage marks in the qualifying degree determine merit.
- Joining Letter: Issued based on merit position within stream-wise vacancies and medical fitness for training at IMA, Dehradun.

Follow these steps to apply:
- Visit the official Indian Army recruitment website.
- Click on ‘Officer Entry Apply/Login’.
- Click ‘Registration’ (if not already registered). Aadhaar number and matriculation certificate are mandatory for registration.
- After registration, log in and click ‘Apply Online’ under the Dashboard.
- Find the ‘Technical Graduate Course’ and click ‘Apply’.
- Read the instructions carefully and fill out the Application Form segments: Personal Information, Communication Details, Education Details, and Previous SSB Details. Ensure CGPA/Grades are converted to marks as per university formula. Ensure personal details match the Matriculation certificate.
- Save and Continue after each segment.
- Review the ‘Summary of your information’ page for accuracy.
- Click ‘Submit’. Remember to ‘Submit’ again if you edit the application.
- After the final closure of online applications, take two printouts of the application form with the Roll Number.
- Carry one signed printout with a self-attested photograph along with all original documents (and self-attested copies) to the SSB interview. Required documents include matriculation certificate, 12th certificate/marksheet, Engineering Degree/Provisional Degree, marksheets of all semesters, CGPA conversion formula certificate, final year certificate (if applicable), etc.. Failure to bring documents will result in cancellation.
