Eligibility Criteria for CSIR NBRI Posts
Technical Assistant
- Educational Qualification:
- Varies by Area/Field (Pharmacognosy, Environmental Science, Molecular Biology, Plant Breeding, Agriculture/Horticulture, Electrical Engineering).
- Generally requires B.Sc. in the relevant subject (Chemistry, Environmental Science, Molecular Biology/Biotechnology, Agriculture, Horticulture) with minimum 60% marks and one year of relevant experience OR one year full-time professional qualification.
- For Engineering (Electrical): Diploma in Electrical Engineering (min. 3 years full-time or 2 years lateral entry) with minimum 60% marks and 2 years relevant experience.
- Age Limit:
- Generally 28 years for Unreserved (UR) and EWS categories.
- Relaxations apply for reserved categories: OBC (31 years), SC (33 years). PwBD candidates should refer to the age relaxation section. The cut-off date for age calculation is June 2, 2025. Minimum age is 18 years.
Technician
- Educational Qualification:
- SSC/10th Standard or equivalent with Science subjects with minimum 55% marks AND ITI certificate or National/State trade certificate in the relevant trade (e.g., Tractor Mechanic, Lab Assistant, Gardener, COPA, Electrician, Fitter, Plumber, Housekeeping).
- OR SSC/10th Standard or equivalent with Science subjects with minimum 55% marks and 2 years full-time experience as an apprentice trainee in the relevant trade.
- OR SSC/10th Standard or equivalent with Science subjects with minimum 55% marks and 3 years of work experience in the relevant trade in a Government/PSU/Autonomous Body.
- Age Limit:
- Generally 28 years for Unreserved (UR) and EWS categories.
- Relaxations apply for reserved categories: OBC (31 years), SC (33 years). PwBD candidates should refer to the age relaxation section. Cut-off date: June 2, 2025. Minimum age is 18 years.
Junior Secretariat Assistant (JSA) (Finance & Accounts / Stores & Purchase)
- Educational Qualification:
- 10+2/XII or its equivalent.
- Proficiency in computer type speed (English @ 35 wpm OR Hindi @ 30 wpm) and in using computer as per DOPT norms.
- Age Limit:
- For JSA (F&A): 31 years for OBC (NCL).
- For JSA (S&P): 28 years for Unreserved (UR), 33 years for SC.
- Relaxations apply as per government rules. Cut-off date: June 2, 2025. Minimum age is 18 years.

CSIR NBRI Selection Process 2025
The selection process varies slightly depending on the post:
Technical Assistant
- Screening: Applications will be screened based on eligibility criteria.
- Trade Test: Recommended candidates will be invited for a Trade Test (Qualifying nature).
- Competitive Written Examination: Candidates qualifying the Trade Test will appear for a written exam.
- Mode: OMR Based Objective Type Multiple Choice.
- Standard: Diploma/Graduation Level.
- Papers: Three papers (Paper-I, Paper-II, Paper-III).
- Paper-I (1 hour): Mental Ability Test (50 questions, 100 marks, No negative marking). Qualifying nature.
- Paper-II (30 mins): General Awareness (25 Qs, 75 Marks) & English Language (25 Qs, 75 Marks). Negative marking (1 mark per wrong answer).
- Paper-III (90 mins): Concerned Subject (100 Qs, 300 Marks). Negative marking (1 mark per wrong answer).
- Final Merit List: Prepared based ONLY on marks obtained in Paper-II and Paper-III. Paper-II & III evaluated only if minimum threshold marks are secured in Paper-I.
Technician

- Competitive Written Examination: Selection based on an open competitive written exam.
- Mode: OMR Based or Computer Based Objective Type Multiple Choice.
- Standard: Class XII.
- Papers: Two papers (Paper-I, Paper-II).
- Paper-I (90 mins): Mental Ability Test (100 Qs, 200 Marks, No negative marking). Qualifying nature.
- Paper-II (1 hour): General Awareness (50 Qs, 150 Marks) & English Language (50 Qs, 150 Marks). Negative marking (1 mark per wrong answer).
- Proficiency Test: Computer Typing Speed (English @ 35 wpm OR Hindi @ 30 wpm) and Computer Usage Test. This is Qualifying in nature. The choice of medium (English/Hindi) given in the application is final.
- Final Merit List: Prepared based ONLY on marks obtained in Paper-II. Paper-II evaluated only if minimum threshold marks are secured in Paper-I. Candidates must qualify the Proficiency Test to be included in the merit list.

- Registration: Complete the portal registration using a valid email ID. Keep this email active throughout the recruitment process.
- Fill Application Form: Log in and fill out the online application form with accurate details. For JSA posts (A01012025 & A02012025), submit a single application indicating preference order. For other posts, if applying for multiple post codes, fill separate applications for each.
- Upload Documents: Upload scanned copies of:

- Signature (JPEG, max 50 KB).
