Eligibility Criteria for BHEL Engineer and Supervisor Roles

Educational Qualification & Experience:

For Engineer (FTA-Gr.II) – Quality (10 Posts):

Quality Control (7 Posts) & Quality Assurance (2 Posts):
- Full-Time Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering/Technology in Mechanical/Production/Metallurgy OR
- 5 Year Integrated Master’s Degree or Dual Degree Programme in Engineering or Technology in (Mechanical) / (Production) / (Metallurgy) from a recognised Indian University/Institute.
- Minimum 60% marks in aggregate for General/OBC (NCL)/EWS and 50% marks for SC candidates.
Plant Lab (1 Post):
- Full-Time Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering/Technology in Chemical OR
- Full-time degree in Master of Science (Chemistry) from a recognised Indian University/Institute.
- Minimum 60% marks in aggregate for General/OBC (NCL)/EWS and 50% marks for SC candidates.
Work Experience & Capabilities (All Engineer Posts):
- Minimum Two Years Post-qualification experience in industry.
- For Quality Control: Preferable experience includes inspection as per applicable procedure, experience in testing & measuring instruments, and VT Level II Qualification.
- For Quality Assurance: Preferable knowledge of IBR & ASME/API Codes and experience in preparation of quality plans & procedures.
- For Plant Lab: Preferable experience includes chemical testing of metals/paints/coal/water, ability to work on SAP system, and awareness of Quality management systems like ISO 17025.
- Common for all Engineer positions: Strong organisational skills, ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities effectively, detail orientation, and excellent problem-solving abilities are preferable.

For Supervisor (FTA-Gr.III) – Quality (10 Posts):

NDTL (6 Posts), Quality Control (2 Posts), Piping Quality (1 Post), Plant Lab (1 Post):
- Full-time Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from a recognised Indian University/Institute.
- Minimum 60% marks in aggregate for General/OBC (NCL)/EWS and 50% marks for SC candidates.
Work Experience & Capabilities (All Supervisor Posts):
- Minimum Two years Post-qualification experience in industry.
- For NDTL: NDT Level II (in four techniques RT, PT, UT, MT) qualification and experience in the relevant field are preferable. Working knowledge of CAD is also preferable.
- For Quality Control & Piping Quality: VT Level II Qualification is preferable. Knowledge of piping standards & ASME/IBR codes is preferable.
- For Plant Lab: Knowledge of metallurgical testing, specimen preparation for testing, AUTOCAD, and Quality management systems like ISO 17025 is preferable.
- Common for all Supervisor positions: Strong organisational skills, ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities effectively, detail orientation, and excellent problem-solving abilities are preferable.

Age Limit (as on 01.05.2025):

Candidates should be a minimum of 22 years of age and not more than 35 years of age.

Age Relaxations:

SC Candidates: 5 years.
OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) Candidates: 3 years. (OBC Candidates not in Non-Creamy Layer should indicate their category as General).
PwBD Candidates:
- General: 10 years.
- OBC (Non-Creamy Layer): 13 years.

BHEL Selection Process 2025

The selection process for BHEL Engineer and Supervisor positions involves the following stages:

Application Screening: All received applications will be screened based on the eligibility conditions.
Shortlisting for Interview:
- If a large number of eligible applications are received, candidates will be shortlisted for the interview in a 1:10 ratio (to the number of vacancies in each category) based on merit.
- Merit will be determined by marks secured in the qualifying examination.
Practical Examination (for NDTL Jobs ONLY):
- Candidates applying for NDTL jobs will undergo a practical examination on UT before the Personal Interview.
- This practical exam is qualifying in nature (Pass/Fail); no marks will be awarded.
- Only those who qualify in the practical examination will be called for the Personal Interview.
Personal Interview:
- Candidates fulfilling eligibility conditions (and qualifying practical exam for NDTL) will be called for a Personal Interview.
- Outstation candidates attending the Personal Interview will be reimbursed to-and-fro Second-Class Sleeper train fare from their mailing address or starting station (whichever is nearer to the interview venue) by the shortest route, upon production of proof of journey.
Final Selection: The final selection will be based on a weightage given to Qualification, Experience, and performance in the Personal Interview.
Document Verification: Original documents will be verified at the time of the interview. Failure to produce required documents will lead to disqualification from the interview.
Medical Examination: Selected candidates’ appointment will be subject to a medical examination by the Company’s Doctor / Authorised Medical Practitioners as per BHEL Medical Attendance Rules.
