CSIR NEIST Recruitment Eligibility Criteria 2025

Educational Qualification & Experience

For Technical Assistant Posts:

  • TA-1: B.Sc (IT) or B.Sc (Computer Science) or BCA with minimum 60% marks and one year experience in a related discipline. 
  • TA-2: B.Sc. or equivalent in Life Science/Zoology/Animal Science/Genetics/Microbiology/Biochemistry/Biotechnology with minimum 60% marks and one year experience in the relevant discipline. 
  • TA-3: B.Sc. with Chemistry as one of the subjects with minimum 60% marks and one year experience in the relevant discipline. 
  • TA-4: Diploma in Chemical Engineering/Technology of at least 3 years full-time duration (or 2 years for lateral admission) with minimum 60% marks and 2 years experience in the relevant area/field. 
  • TA-5: Diploma in Computer Science/Information Technology/Computer Applications of at least 3 years full-time duration (or 2 years for lateral admission) with minimum 60% marks and 2 years experience OR B.Sc. (Computer Science/Information Technology/Computer Applications) or equivalent with minimum 60% marks and one-year experience. 
  • TA-6: B.Sc. with Physics as one of the subjects with minimum 60% marks and one-year experience in Geophysics/Geoscience/GIS/Remote Sensing or related field. 
  • TA-7: Diploma in Civil Engineering/Technology of at least 3 years full-time duration (or 2 years for lateral admission) with minimum 60% marks and 2 years experience. 
  • TA-8: B.Sc. or equivalent, with minimum 60% marks in Botany/Agriculture with one year experience in the relevant area. 

For Technician(1) Posts:

  • TE-01 (Plumbing): SSC/10th Standard with Science subjects with minimum 55% marks AND ITI certificate or national/state trade certificate in Plumbing OR 2 years full-time experience as an Apprentice Trainee in Plumbing OR 3 years of work experience in Plumbing in a Govt./PSU/Autonomous body. 
  • TE-02 (Electrician): SSC/10th Standard with Science subjects with minimum 55% marks AND ITI certificate or national/state trade certificate in Electrician OR 2 years full-time experience as an Apprentice Trainee in Electrician OR 3 years of work experience in Electrician in a Govt./PSU/Autonomous body. 
  • TE-03 (Welder): SSC/10th Standard with Science subjects with minimum 55% marks AND ITI certificate or national/state trade certificate in Welder OR 2 years full-time experience as an Apprentice Trainee in Welder OR 3 years of work experience in Welder in a Govt./PSU/Autonomous body. 
  • TE-04 (Mason/Construction & Wood working): SSC/10th Standard with Science subjects with minimum 55% marks AND ITI certificate or national/state trade certificate in Mason/Construction & Wood working sector OR 2 years full-time experience as an Apprentice Trainee in Mason/Construction & Wood working OR 3 years of work experience in Mason/Construction & Wood working in a Govt./PSU/Autonomous body. 
  • TE-05 (Computer Operator and Programming Assistant): SSC/10th Standard with Science subjects with minimum 55% marks AND ITI certificate or national/state trade certificate in Computer Operator and Programming Assistant1 OR 2 years full-time experience as an Apprentice2 Trainee in Computer Operator and Programming Assistant OR 3 years of work experience in Computer Operator and Programming Assistant in a Govt./PSU/Autonomous body. 

The prescribed qualifications should have been obtained through recognized Universities/Institutions.Experience will be counted after acquiring the minimum educational qualification.

Age Limit

  • Upper Age Limit: 28 years as on the last date of receipt of online applications (06.06.2025). 
  • Applicants must be at least 18 years old. 
  • Age Relaxation:
    • Up to 05 years for regular employees of CSIR labs/institutes, Government Departments, Autonomous bodies, and PSUs. 
    • Up to 05 years for SC/ST and 03 years for OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) candidates for reserved posts. 
    • PwBD candidates: Age relaxation of 10 years (15 years for SC/ST and 13 years for OBC in reserved posts). Disability must be 40% or more. 
    • Widows, Divorced Women, and Women judicially separated: Up to 35 years (40 years for SC/ST).

Salary & Benefits: CSIR NEIST Technical Posts

Pay Scale:

  • Technical Assistant: Level-6 (Rs. 35,400 – Rs. 1,12,400) as per 7th CPC Pay Matrix. Approximate total emoluments will be based on the minimum of the scale including admissible allowances. 
  • Technician(1): Level-2 (Rs. 19,900 – Rs. 63,200) as per 7th CPC Pay Matrix. Approximate total emoluments will be based on the minimum of the scale including admissible allowances. 

Other Benefits:

  • Usual allowances like Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), Transport Allowance (TA) as admissible to central government employees and as applicable to CSIR. 
  • Eligibility for residential accommodation as per CSIR rules (HRA not admissible if accommodation provided). 
  • Reimbursement of Medical Expenses, Leave Travel Concession (LTC). 
  • New entrants will be governed by the “National Pension System” (NPS). 

Selection Process for CSIR NEIST Recruitment

The selection process for both Technical Assistant and Technician posts will be conducted in two stages:

Stage I: Trade Test

  • Candidates will be shortlisted for the Trade Test by a Screening Committee based on its own criteria. 
  • The Trade Test will evaluate the suitability of candidates for the respective posts. 

Stage II: Competitive Written Examination

  • Candidates who qualify in the Trade Test will be invited for the Competitive Written Examination. 
  • The examination will be OMR-based or Computer-based Objective Type Multiple Choice. 
  • Questions will be set in English and Hindi (except for the English Language paper). 

Exam Pattern for Technical Assistant:

  • Standard: Diploma/Graduation Level (based on advertised qualification). 
  • Total Questions: 200 
  • Total Time: 3 hours 
    • Paper-I (1 hour): Mental Ability Test (50 questions, 100 marks, no negative marking). Includes General Intelligence, Quantitative Aptitude, Reasoning, Problem Solving, Situational Judgment, etc. 
    • Paper-II (30 minutes): General Awareness (25 questions, 75 marks) and English Language (25 questions, 75 marks). One negative mark for every wrong answer. 
    • Paper-III (90 minutes): Concerned Subject (100 questions, 300 marks). One negative mark for every wrong answer. 

Exam Pattern for Technician(1):

  • Standard: SSC + ITI / 12th Standard. 
  • Total Questions: 150 
  • Total Time: 2 hours 30 minutes 
    • Paper-I (1 hour): Mental Ability Test (50 questions, 100 marks, no negative marking). Includes Quantitative Aptitude, Reasoning, Problem Solving, Situational Judgment, etc. 
    • Paper-II (30 minutes): General Awareness (25 questions, 75 marks) and English Language (25 questions, 75 marks). One negative mark for every wrong answer. 
    • Paper-III (1 hour): Concerned Subject (50 questions, 150 marks). One negative mark for every wrong answer. 

Paper-II & Paper-III will only be evaluated for those candidates who secure minimum threshold marks in Paper-I (to be determined by the Selection Committee). 

The final merit list will be prepared based on marks obtained in Paper-II & Paper-III.

  4. Register & Fill Application: Complete the online application form with accurate details.
  5. Upload Documents: Upload scanned copies of required documents as PDF (not more than 1 MB each). 
    • SSC/10th certificate & Marksheet (reflecting Date of Birth). 
    • Intermediate/10+2/Diploma Certificate & Marksheet. 
    • ITI Certificate or National/State Trade Certificate & Marksheet/Apprentice Certificate (for Technician). 
    • Graduation certificate & Marksheet (if any/applicable). 
    • Latest Caste/Category certificate (SC/ST/OBC/EWS) in prescribed GoI format.
