CSIR NIO Apprentice Eligibility Criteria 2025

Aspiring candidates must carefully review the eligibility criteria concerning educational qualifications, age limits, and other essential requirements before appearing for the walk-in interview.

Educational Qualifications

  • Technician (Diploma) Apprentices:
    • A three-year full-time Diploma in Engineering/Technology in the relevant discipline, granted by a State Council or Board of Technical Education established by a State Government/University/Institution. For instance, for Civil Engineering Apprentice, a three-year Diploma in Civil Engineering is required. Similarly, for Computer Engineering, a three-year diploma in Computer Engineering / Information Technology / Computer Science is needed. 
  • Graduate (Degree) Apprentices:
    • A full-time Graduate degree in the relevant discipline granted by a recognized University/Institution. For example, for Oceanography Apprentice, a Bachelor’s degree in any Science discipline is required. For Library Sciences, a Bachelor’s Degree in Library and Information Science or equivalent is necessary. For roles like Finance & Accounts, Administration, Stores & Purchase, and Human Resource Management, a graduation in any discipline is acceptable. Specific degrees like B.Sc. in Nursing (or equivalent) for Dispensary/Nursing and a Bachelor’s degree in Hotel Management (or equivalent) for Guest House & Canteen Management are stipulated. 

Age Limit (as on 06th June 2025 – Date of Interview)

  • Technician (Diploma) Apprentices: Minimum 18 years and maximum 24 years. 
  • Graduate (Degree) Apprentices: Minimum 21 years and maximum 26 years. 

Age Relaxation:

  • Relaxation of 5 years for SC/ST candidates. 
  • Relaxation of 3 years for OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) candidates for posts reserved for them. 
  • PWD Categories: Age relaxation up to 10 years. (Up to 15 years for SC/ST PWD and up to 13 years for OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) PWD Candidates). 

Candidates claiming reservation under SC/ST/OBC/PWD must provide a certificate in the Government Standard format. OBC candidates must submit an OBC (NCL) certificate. 

Other Eligibility Requirements

  • Year of Passing: Graduate/Technician candidates who passed the qualifying examination in 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024, or 2025 are eligible. 
  • Apprenticeship Portal Registration: Candidates must have registered themselves on the Apprenticeship Portal (NATS) at [suspicious link removed]. The enrollment number from the portal must be quoted in the application. 
  • Prior Training/Experience:
    • Candidates should not have undergone or be currently undergoing Apprenticeship Training in CSIR or elsewhere. 
    • Candidates should not have experience of one year or more in any job. 
  • Aadhaar Number: Candidates must possess a valid Aadhaar Number.

CSIR NIO Apprentice Stipend & Benefits 2025

Selected apprentices will receive a monthly stipend as per the apprenticeship rules.

  • Technician (Diploma) Apprentices: Rs. 8,000/- per month. 
  • Graduate (Degree) Apprentices: Rs. 9,000/- per month. 
  • Training Period: The apprenticeship training will be for a period of 01 Year for all trades. 
  • Certification: Successful apprenticeship trainees will be awarded a National Apprenticeship Certificate by the National Council for Vocational Training (NCVT)/BOAT. 

CSIR NIO Apprentice Selection Process 2025

The selection of apprentices will be based on a Walk-in-Interview.

  1. Walk-in-Interview: Eligible candidates who have registered on the NATS portal must appear for the walk-in interview on the specified date and time. 
  2. Document Verification: Candidates must bring all original certificates and one set of self-attested photocopies for verification at the time of the interview. This includes educational qualifications, date of birth proof (SSLC/HSC), caste certificate (if applicable), Aadhaar card, and the NATS enrollment printout. Joining is subject to the verification of these certificates. 
  3. Shortlisting Criteria: If the number of candidates is large, the Selection Committee may adopt its own criteria to shortlist candidates for the interview in proportion to the available vacancies. 

The decision of the Director, CSIR-NIO, Goa will be final in all matters relating to eligibility, selection, and cancellation of the selection process.

Interested and eligible candidates must follow a two-step process:

Step 1: Register on the NATS Portal

This is a mandatory step.

  1. Go to the National Apprenticeship Training Scheme (NATS) portal.
  2. Click on “Student” and then “Student Register”. 
  3. Complete the application form with accurate details.
  4. A Unique Student Enrolment ID will be generated after successful registration. This ID is mandatory and must be mentioned in the application form for the walk-in interview. 

Step 2: Attend the Walk-In-Interview

  1. Download and Fill Application Form: The application form is available at the end of the official notification (link provided below) and on the CSIR-NIO website.
  2. Gather Documents: Prepare all original documents and one set of self-attested photocopies of:
    • All Certificates/Testimonials for Qualifications, Date of Birth (SSLC/HSC copy). 
    • Caste Certificate (for SC/ST/OBC (Non-Creamy Layer)/EWS candidates) in the prescribed format. 
    • Aadhaar Card. 
    • NATS Portal Enrollment printout (with Enrollment ID).
    • A recent passport-size photograph. 
    • Duly filled-in application form. 
  3. Appear for Interview:
    • Date & Time: 06th June 2025, Reporting Time: 9:30 AM. (No entry after 10:00 AM )
