BEL Eligibility Criteria 2025

Candidates must meet the following criteria to be eligible for the BEL Project Engineer and Trainee Engineer positions:

Educational Qualification:

  • A full-time 4-year B.E./ B.Tech/ B.Sc Engineering degree (Pass Class) from a recognized University/Institution in the following disciplines:
  • Candidates from other engineering disciplines are not eligible. 

Age Limit (as of 01.04.2025):

  • Project Engineer-I: Maximum 32 years for General/EWS candidates. 
  • Trainee Engineer-I: Maximum 28 years for General/EWS candidates. 
  • Age Relaxation: Applicable as per government norms:
    • OBC (Non-Creamy Layer): 3 Years 
    • SC/ST: 5 Years 
    • PwBD (minimum 40% disability): 10 Years 
    • Ex-Servicemen: As per government guidelines. 
  • Candidates seeking age relaxation must provide necessary certificates in the prescribed format available on the BEL website. 

Experience (as of 01.04.2025):

  • Project Engineer-I: Minimum 2 years of relevant post-qualification industrial experience is mandatory. 
    • Teaching, academic work, apprenticeship, internship training, research work, experience in banking/financial institutions, non-profit organizations, and internship placements part of the academic curriculum will not be considered relevant experience. 
    • Work experience gained before completing the B.E./B.Tech/B.Sc Engg. degree will not qualify. Only industrial experience is considered. 
  • Trainee Engineer-I: No specific post-qualification experience mentioned, implying fresh graduates meeting the educational criteria are likely eligible.

BEL Salary & Benefits 2025

Selected candidates will receive a consolidated monthly remuneration as follows:

Project Engineer-I:

  • 1st Year: ₹40,000/- 
  • 2nd Year: ₹45,000/- 
  • 3rd Year: ₹50,000/- 
  • 4th Year (if extended): ₹55,000/- 
  • Tenure: Initially for 3 years, extendable up to a maximum of 4 years based on project needs and performance. 
  • Retention Bonus: ₹25,000/- for each completed year, payable as a lump sum of ₹1,00,000/- at the end of the 4-year tenure. 

Trainee Engineer-I:

  • 1st Year: ₹30,000/- 
  • 2nd Year: ₹35,000/- 
  • 3rd Year (if extended): ₹40,000/- 
  • Tenure: Initially for 2 years, extendable up to a maximum of 3 years based on project needs and performance. 
  • Advancement: Trainee Engineers may be advanced to Project Engineer-I after completing 2 years, subject to rules and performance. If advanced, the Project Engineer tenure and retention bonus rules will apply. 

Additional Benefits (Applicable to both PE & TE):

  • Annual Allowance: ₹12,000/- per year paid in two installments for expenses like insurance premium, attire, stitching, footwear etc. 
  • Insurance: Candidates must obtain Medical Insurance (₹2 Lakhs/annum) and Life Insurance (₹5 Lakhs/annum) cover upon joining. 
  • Travel & Accommodation: Eligible for TA/DA and hotel accommodation as per company rules when on official travel (Movement Order). 
  • Local Conveyance: Entitled for local conveyance for official duty as per Bengaluru Unit rules. 
  • Area Allowance: 10% of consolidated remuneration per month if posted outside the Bengaluru Unit. 
  • Lunch Allowance: ₹150/- per day if detailed for company work outside factory premises for 3+ hours during shift (not applicable if receiving Area Allowance). 

BEL Selection Process 2025

The selection process differs slightly for the two posts:

  • Project Engineer-I:
    1. Written Test: Candidates will be shortlisted based on eligibility. 
    2. Interview: Candidates qualifying the written test (in a 1:5 ratio per category based on test performance) will be called for an interview. 
    3. Final Selection: Based on combined scores (Written Test: 85% weightage, Interview: 15% weightage). 
  • Trainee Engineer-I:
    1. Written Test: Selection will be based purely on the merit scored in the written test (100 marks). 
    2. Merit List: Candidates selected category-wise and discipline-wise based on written test scores. 
    3. Negative Marking: The written test includes negative marking (1/4 mark deducted for each wrong answer). 

Shortlisted candidates for tests/interviews will be notified via email and the BEL website. The venue for the tests/interviews will be communicated later.

BEL Application Fees 2025

  • Project Engineer-I (PE-I): ₹400 + 18% GST = ₹472/-
  • Trainee Engineer-I (TE-I): ₹150 + 18% GST = ₹177/-
  • Exemptions: Candidates belonging to SC, ST, and PwBD categories are exempted from paying the application fee.
