BEL Senior Engineer Eligibility Criteria 2025

Candidates must ensure they fulfill all eligibility conditions regarding educational qualification, age, and experience as of May 1, 2025.

Educational Qualification (as on 01.05.2025)

Candidates must have completed a full-time B.E/B.Tech/ME/M.Tech in the specified disciplines with First Class from an AICTE-approved College/Institute or a recognized University.
Disciplines Allowed:
- Electronics: B.E./B.Tech/M.E./M.Tech in Electronics / Electronics & Communication / Communication / Electronics & Telecommunication / Telecommunication Engineering.
- Mechanical: B.E./B.Tech/M.E./M.Tech in Mechanical Engineering.
- Computer Science: B.E./B.Tech/M.E./M.Tech in Computer Science / Computer Science Engineering / Computer Science & Engineering.
Applicants whose discipline/specialization mentioned in their Degree Certificates do not tally with those prescribed will not be considered.
In case of CGPA or credit system, candidates must attach the formula for conversion to percentage as per their University norms. Failure to do so can lead to cancellation of candidature.

Age Limit (as on 01.05.2025)

Upper Age Limit: 35 years for General & EWS category candidates.
Age Relaxation:
- OBC (NCL) candidates: 3 years
- SC/ST candidates: 5 years
- PwBD candidates: 10 years (in addition to the relaxation applicable for their category, with a minimum of 40% disability).

Post Qualification Experience (as on 01.05.2025)

Candidates need relevant post-qualification industrial experience in the specified technical areas.

For B.E/B.Tech candidates: Minimum 4 years of relevant post-qualification industrial experience.
For M.E/M.Tech candidates: Minimum 2 years of relevant post-qualification industrial experience in the following technical areas/fields.

Detailed Experience Requirements by Discipline:

Electronics Discipline:
- Electronics System design and handling of Electronic testing tools.
- Firmware testing – Verilog / VHDL, programming for Altera / Xilinx and verification.
- PCB level / sub-system level / system level testing & troubleshooting.
- Preparing acceptance test procedure documents.
- Preparing technical documents as per naval standards.
- EMI/EMC testing as per MIL Standards.
- Conducting field testing of electronics modules/systems.
- Working with cross-functional teams for integration and testing of Sonar modules at site and on-board Naval platforms.
- Preparing test plans and generating reports.
Mechanical Discipline:
- 3D modelling of mechanical systems using SolidWorks.
- Preparing and analysing models, manufacturing assembly drawings, part drawings, and BOM.
- Mechanical system development/assembly.
- Installation and support to integrate systems on Naval platforms.
- Preparing installation manuals, Technical manuals & Engineering documents.
- Qualification testing as per MIL Standards.
Computer Science Discipline:
- C/C++ programming with QT framework.
- Object-oriented programming & UML diagrams.
- Debugging and optimising software for performance, reliability, and efficiency.
- Preparation of software test plans.
- Performance unit testing, system validation, and real-time trials.
- Preparation of software documents as per IEEE std-12207.
- Manual or automatic testing for static code analysis, dynamic code coverage, unit testing, and software quality assurance.

Important Notes on Experience:

Teaching/Academic/Research work will not be considered as relevant post-qualification industrial experience.
Experience in banking and financial institutions, non-profit organizations, and internship placements that are part of an academic curriculum will not be considered.
Only relevant educational qualifications and relevant post-qualification industry experience will be considered.
The decision of the selection committee regarding the relevance of experience and selection will be final.
Work experience indicated without supporting documents will not be considered.

Salary & Benefits: Remuneration for BEL Senior Engineer

Selected candidates for the Senior Engineer (E-III Grade) position will receive an attractive remuneration package:

Pay Scale: Rs. 50,000 – 3% – Rs. 1,60,000/- per month.
Basic Pay: Rs. 50,000/-

Period of Contract:

The engagement will initially be for a period of five (5) years from the date of joining. This may be extended by a maximum of another two years (total maximum tenure of 7 years, including the initial period), depending on project progress and the candidate’s performance.

BEL Senior Engineer Selection Process 2025

The selection methodology for the Senior Engineer post will involve the following stages:

Screening of Applications: Applications will be screened based on the details provided and documents submitted. Candidates must carefully enter details and attach prescribed documents. Discrepancies can lead to rejection.
Written Test: Shortlisted candidates who meet the eligibility criteria will be called for a Written Test. The test will carry 85 marks. The list of candidates shortlisted for the Written Test will be posted on the BEL Website.
Interview: Candidates who qualify in the Written Test will be shortlisted for an interview. The shortlisting for the interview will be in the order of merit from the Written Test scores, in a ratio of 1:7 (post-wise and category-wise). The list of candidates shortlisted for the Interview will also be posted on the BEL Website.
Document Verification: This will likely occur during the selection process.

If the current employment experience certificate is not produced, then the joining/appointment letter, first and latest pay slip, and employee ID proof must be attached.

For General/OBC/EWS Candidates: Rs. 400/- + 18% GST.
