- Citizenship: Must be a citizen of India.
- Educational Qualification:
- Must have passed the General Nursing and Midwifery (G.N.M.) course from a recognized institution, adhering to the duration specified by the Indian Nursing Council (INC), New Delhi.
- Institutions outside Bihar must have suitability recognition from the INC, New Delhi.
- Must be registered with the Bihar Nursing Registration Council (BNRC), Patna.
- Candidates with a B.Sc. (Nursing) degree are also eligible to apply.
- Age Limit (as of 01.08.2024):

Salary and Benefits: Staff Nurse Pay Scale
Selected candidates will be appointed as Staff Nurses under the Health Department, Bihar, with the following pay scale:

Selection Process: How BTSC Selects Staff Nurses
The selection process involves two main stages totaling 100 marks:
- Written Examination (Computer Based Test – CBT): 75 Marks
- Work Experience: Maximum 25 Marks
Details:
- Written Exam (CBT):
- A Computer Based Test (CBT) will be conducted.
- The exam will have 100 multiple-choice objective-type questions.
- Total Marks: 100. Duration: 2 hours.
- The question paper will be bilingual (Hindi & English).
- Syllabus: Based on the G.N.M. level curriculum prescribed by the department (to be published on the BTSC website).
- Normalization will be applied if the exam is held in multiple shifts.
- Negative Marking: Yes. 1 mark for each correct answer, and 0.25 marks deducted for each wrong answer.
- Minimum Qualifying Marks: General-40%, BC-36.5%, EBC-34%, SC/ST/Women/PwD-32%. Candidates not meeting the minimum qualifying marks for their category will not be considered.
- Final score calculation for merit list: (Percentage of marks obtained in CBT) x 0.75.
- Work Experience:
- Applicable only to candidates qualifying the written test.
- Awarded for satisfactory contractual work as a Staff Nurse in Government/Semi-Government (Central Govt, Municipalities, Panchayati Raj institutions etc.) health facilities within Bihar.
- Marks: 5 marks per year of experience, up to a maximum of 25 marks. Pro-rata marks for parts of a year will be calculated.
- Experience will be counted until April 25, 2025.
- Experience must be certified by the competent authority (Civil Surgeon, Medical College Superintendent, Super Speciality Hospital Director) in the prescribed format (Appendix-I).
- Document Verification: Candidates shortlisted based on the combined score (Written Exam + Experience) will be called for Document Verification.
