Eligibility Criteria for CGPSC Specialist Posts
Candidates must ensure they possess the required qualifications and meet the age criteria by the last date of online application.
Educational Qualifications:
- Psychiatrist:
- Postgraduate Degree or Diploma in the relevant specialty (Psychiatry) from a recognized university and recognized by the Medical Council of India (MCI).
- Valid and live registration of the Degree/Diploma with the Chhattisgarh Medical Council or other state Medical Councils or MCI is mandatory.
- Pathology Specialist:
- Postgraduate Degree or Diploma in the relevant specialty (Pathology) from a recognized university and recognized by the Medical Council of India (MCI).
- Valid and live registration of the Degree/Diploma with the Chhattisgarh Medical Council or other state Medical Councils or MCI is mandatory.
- Clinical Psychologist:
- Postgraduate Degree in Clinical Psychology or any other equivalent qualification recognized by the National Medical Commission.
- Counsellor (Psychiatry):
- Postgraduate Degree or Diploma in Counselling Psychology or any other equivalent qualification recognized by the National Medical Commission.
Age Limit (as of 01.01.2025):
- Psychiatrist & Pathologist Specialist: Minimum 25 years and Maximum 35 years.
- Clinical Psychologist & Counsellor: Minimum 21 years and Maximum 35 years.
- Age Relaxation:
- Chhattisgarh Domicile Candidates: 5 years relaxation in the upper age limit (i.e., up to 40 years).
- SC/ST/OBC (NCL) of Chhattisgarh: 5 years relaxation.
- Chhattisgarh Govt. Employees (Permanent/Temporary/Work-Charged/Contingency Paid/Corporation/Board employees): Upper age limit 38 years.
- Retrenched Government Servants: Relaxation up to 7 years (max upper age limit 3 years beyond normal).
- Ex-Servicemen (Chhattisgarh): Relaxation for the period of service rendered, provided the resultant age does not exceed the upper limit by more than 3 years.
- Women Candidates (Chhattisgarh Domicile): 10 years relaxation.
- Volunteer Home Guards/Non-Commissioned Officers: Relaxation up to 8 years (max age 38).
- Widows, Deserted, and Divorced Women (Chhattisgarh): 5 years relaxation.
- Inter-caste marriage awardees (Chhattisgarh): 5 years relaxation.
- Awarded Sportspersons/National Youth Awardees (Chhattisgarh): 5 years relaxation.
- Contractual Employees (Chhattisgarh Govt.): Relaxation equal to the period of contract service (max age limit 38 years).
- Persons with Disabilities (PwD) (Chhattisgarh): 5 years relaxation.
- Shiksha Karmis/Panchayat Karmis: Relaxation equal to service years (max age 45).
- Overall Relaxation Cap: The maximum age limit after availing all applicable relaxations shall not exceed 45 years for Chhattisgarh residents.

Salary and Pay Scale
Selected candidates will be appointed on probation for 3 years and will receive salary according to the following pay matrix levels, plus applicable dearness allowance and other allowances as per Chhattisgarh Government rules.
- Psychiatrist & Pathology Specialist: Pay Matrix Level-13 (₹67,300 basic pay)
- Clinical Psychologist & Counsellor (Psychiatry): Pay Matrix Level-12 (₹56,100 basic pay)
Selection Process
The selection process for these posts involves the following stages:
- Examination (if conducted): If the number of applications received is large, the commission will conduct a written examination. The exam pattern and syllabus will be published later. The exam center will primarily be Raipur, though centers may be added or removed based on application numbers. The exam could be a conventional written test or a Computer Based Test (CBT).
- Interview: Candidates shortlisted based on merit (either through minimum qualifications, higher qualifications, or examination marks) will be called for an interview. The interview will be for 100 marks.
- Document Verification: Candidates called for the interview must produce original documents and self-attested photocopies for verification.
- Minimum Qualifying Marks:
- Interview Only Scenario: If selection is based solely on the interview, candidates need a minimum of 33 marks (General) and 23 marks (SC/ST/OBC) to qualify.
- Exam + Interview Scenario: Minimum qualifying marks for the exam stage, if applicable, will be notified later.

Applications must be submitted online through the official CGPSC website. Manual or postal applications will not be accepted.

- Registration/Login:
- New users must register first by providing basic details (Name, Parent’s Name, DoB, Mobile, Email, ID proof) and creating login credentials. You will need to capture a live photo and upload a signature (.jpg, max 100 KB) as per specifications.
- Existing users can log in using their registered ID and password.
- Select Post: Navigate to the relevant advertisement and click ‘Apply’ for the desired post. Remember to apply separately for each post if interested in multiple positions.
- Fill Application Form: Carefully fill in all required details in the online application form. Review all entries thoroughly before submitting.
- Fee Payment: Proceed to pay the application/portal fees online using available options (Credit Card, Debit Card, Net Banking, UPI etc.).
- Submit & Print: After successful payment, submit the application. Download and print the application receipt and payment confirmation for future reference. Ensure the Application Status shows ‘Submitted’ and Payment Status shows ‘Paid’.
