Eligibility Criteria for Clerk

Candidates must fulfill the following educational and age criteria as on 01.01.2025:

Educational Qualification

1. For Clerk (69 Posts):

  • Bachelor’s Degree: From a recognized University or Institution.
  • Computer Course: Possess at least 120 Hours course with hands-on experience in the use of Personal Computer or Information Technology in Office Productivity applications or Desktop Publishing applications from a Govt. recognized institution (ISO 9001 certified).
    • OR Computer Information Technology Course equivalent to ‘O’ Level certificate of DOEACC.
  • Typing Test: Qualifies a test in Punjabi (Raavi Font) and English typing at a speed of 30 w.p.m.
  • Punjabi Language: Must have passed Matriculation with Punjabi as a subject.

2. For Clerk IT (01 Post):

  • Degree: B.C.A / B.Sc (IT) / B.Sc (Computer Science) from a recognized University/Institution.
  • Typing Test: Qualifies a test in Punjabi and English typing at a speed of 30 w.p.m.
  • Punjabi Language: Must have passed Matriculation with Punjabi as a subject.

Age Limit (As on 01.01.2025)

  • General: 18 to 37 Years.
  • SC/BC (Punjab): Up to 42 Years.
  • State/Central Govt Employees: Up to 45 Years.
  • Ex-Servicemen: Relaxation as per rules.
  • PwD (Punjab): Up to 47 Years.

Salary and Pay Scale

Selected candidates for the post of Clerk/Clerk IT will receive salary as per the 7th Central Pay Commission (CPC) matrix.

  • Pay Scale: Level-2.
  • Initial Pay: ₹ 19,900/- per month.

Selection Process

The selection procedure consists of two stages:

  1. Written Examination:
    • Part-A (Qualifying): Punjabi Language Test (Matric Level). Candidates must secure at least 50% marks to qualify.
    • Part-B (Merit): Objective Type Written Exam based on educational qualification. Candidates must secure at least 40% marks to be considered.
  2. Typing Test:
    • Candidates shortlisted from the written exam will be called for a Typing Test in English and Punjabi.
    • Speed: 30 words per minute.
    • Font: Punjabi typing test will be in Unicode Compliant Font Raavi.
    • The typing test is qualifying in nature.
    • Final Merit List: Prepared based on marks obtained in Part-B of the written exam for candidates who qualify the typing test.
