PSSSB Punjab Group D Recruitment 2026 Corrigendum: Application Window Reopened 25 August – 4 September 2026

Update — 24 August 2026: The Subordinate Services Selection Board, Punjab has issued a corrigendum (ਸੋਧ ਪੱਤਰ) to Advt. No. 04 of 2026, and the online portal for the Group-D Common Cadre posts is open once more from 25 August 2026 to 4 September 2026. The last date to pay the application fee is also 4 September 2026, so treat that as your single hard deadline. If you already applied under Advt. No. 04 of 2026 you do not need to apply again — your earlier application stands, and re-applying will only cost you another fee. The demand-letter condition under para 1(ii) with its note and under Sr. No. 7(viii) has been withdrawn, and the department-wise, category-wise list of posts is now published as Annexure-O to this corrigendum. Read the corrigendum yourself before you fill the form.

What Changed in the PSSSB Group D Recruitment 2026 Corrigendum?

Four things moved in this corrigendum, and each one matters differently depending on whether you have already applied. Read the row that describes you.

Candidates who already appliedNeed not apply again

The withdrawal of the demand-letter condition is the part most candidates will skim past, and it is the one worth understanding. Until now the advertisement kept the number of posts open because departments could still send in fresh demands. That door is closed. What is printed in Annexure-O — department by department and reserved category by reserved category — is what will be filled, and PSSSB has put the total at 1401. Check Annexure-O for the department and the category you will compete in, because a post name that exists in one department may carry no seat at all in another. More Punjab government job notifications are tracked on the same page.

Everything else in Advt. No. 04 of 2026 is unchanged. The qualification is still Matriculation with Punjabi as a subject, the pay is still Level 1, and the fee slabs are exactly as they were. Nothing in this corrigendum alters the selection process. Use the eleven days you have been given and file the form early — the portal will be busiest on 4 September. If you are hunting more 10th pass government jobs, or want to browse all current government job notifications, keep both pages bookmarked.

PSSSB Group D 2026: Salary, Eligibility & How to Apply for Sewadar / Chowkidar Posts

The Subordinate Services Selection Board (SSSB), Punjab has released a massive recruitment notification for Group D posts including Sewadars and Chowkidars. If you have completed 10th class with Punjabi as a subject, this is a great chance for you! The online portal has been reopened by a corrigendum dated 24 August 2026: applications are accepted from 25 August 2026 to 4 September 2026 (earlier window 27 February 2026 to 20 March 2026). PSSSB has also confirmed a firm 1401 Group-D posts received from Punjab Government departments, listed department-wise and category-wise in Annexure-O of that corrigendum. The salary ranges from ₹18,000 to ₹56,900 per month.

The selection process is transparent and merit-based. You’ll face a written exam in two parts — first a Punjabi paper you only have to qualify, and then the Part-B paper that decides your merit. After clearing the written exam, qualified candidates will go through counselling. PSSSB has ensured that candidates from all backgrounds — General, EWS, SC, BC, ESM, Sports, PwBD, and Freedom Fighters — have equal opportunities through their 21 reservation categories. What is the Eligibility for PSSSB Group D Recruitment 2026?

Make sure you meet all the requirements before applying. Don’t worry if you’re not sure — we’ve broken it down into simple sections.

Education Qualification

  • Minimum Qualification: Matriculation (10th Pass) with Punjabi as one of the subjects, from a recognised educational institution
  • Your qualification certificate must come from a recognised board, institution or university
  • Separately from the above, you must score at least 50% marks in a qualifying Punjabi language test of Matriculation standard, held by the Board alongside the written exam

One clause is worth reading twice. The notification reproduces a proviso under which the educational qualification condition does not apply to a blind person, to a riot or terrorist affected person, or to a person appointed to the service as a sweeper. That is not a small carve-out here: Sweeper, Sweeper-cum-Attendant and Water Carrier-cum-Sweeper are among the largest post groups in Annexure-O. If you are applying against one of those posts, read the qualification clause in Advt. No. 04 of 2026 for yourself and confirm your position with PSSSB rather than assuming you are shut out.

Age Limit

Advt. No. 04 of 2026 does fix the age limits, and it fixes them as on 1 January 2026. The corrigendum dated 24 August 2026 did not change that reference date, so reopening the portal has not bought anyone extra age. The limits below are the ones printed in the notification:

  • Minimum age: 18 years, for candidates of every category
  • General category: upper age limit 37 years
  • SC and BC candidates who are residents of Punjab: upper age limit 42 years
  • State and Central Government employees: upper age limit 45 years
  • Persons with disabilities who are residents of Punjab: 10 years relaxation, upper age limit 47 years
  • Widows, divorcees and certain other categories of married women: upper age limit relaxed up to 40 years
  • Ex-Servicemen who are residents of Punjab: as per the Punjab Recruitment of Ex-Servicemen Rules, 1982 — your military service is deducted from your age, and if what is left does not exceed the post’s upper age limit by more than 3 years, you are treated as meeting the age condition

Two cautions. The notification prints no separate age relaxation for the Sports or Freedom Fighter categories — those appear in the category-code list and in the fee slabs, but not in the age clause, so do not assume a relaxation that is not there. And check which relaxation you are claiming: the notification attaches the words “resident of Punjab” to the SC/BC, disability and Ex-Servicemen limits, and it separately states that the benefit of reservation goes only to residents of Punjab, with a domicile or residence certificate not more than five years old to be produced at counselling. Government employees claiming the 45-year limit must bring an NOC from their department to counselling.

For a candidate with 10th pass qualification in Punjab, this is one of the most rewarding career paths available. Your family will have security, you’ll have guaranteed income, and you’ll serve your state.

What is the Selection Process for PSSSB Group D 2026?

Selection is through a single objective-type (multiple choice) written exam, which the notification sets in two parts — Part A and Part B. Here’s how the two parts work — don’t be nervous, just prepare well!

Part A: Punjabi Qualifying Test (Compulsory)

Your first hurdle is the Punjabi test. This isn’t competitive — you just need to pass with 50% marks minimum.

  • Level: Punjabi language of Matriculation standard
  • Passing Marks: 50% minimum
  • Nature: qualifying only — these marks are not counted towards your merit
  • If you fail: you are disqualified from the final merit list no matter what you score in the other paper

Part B: The Merit-Deciding Paper

Part B sits in the same written exam as Part A, and it is the part that counts. This is where the real competition happens — your marks here decide your rank.

  • Marking: each question carries 1 mark
  • Negative Marking: 1/4 mark is cut for every wrong answer, so guessing costs you
  • Syllabus and exam pattern: the advertisement does not print them — PSSSB will upload both on its own website, so keep checking it
  • Your Score: the merit list is drawn up on your Part-B marks alone

Counselling (Final Stage)

Candidates are called from the merit list for counselling, where every document is verified. PSSSB — or an authority it appoints — decides how many candidates are called.

  • Document Verification: carry the originals covering your age, your educational qualification and your category, and note that all of them must pre-date your application
  • No switching: you are considered only in the category and category code you applied under, and the notification says neither can be changed at any stage
  • Final Recommendation: candidates found fully eligible at counselling are recommended to the concerned department as per the Common Merit List and the posts actually available
  • No TA or DA is paid for attending the written exam or the counselling
