Eligibility Criteria for SCL Assistant

Candidates must meet the following eligibility criteria:

  • Education:
    • Graduate in any discipline from a recognized University. 
    • Proficiency in the use of computers. 
  • Age Limit (as on closing date for receipt of online application):
    • Maximum Age: 25 years. 
    • Permissible relaxation in the upper age limit is applicable for reserved categories as per government norms. 
      • SC/ST: 5 years 
      • OBC: 3 years 
      • PwBD (Unreserved): 10 years 
      • PwBD (OBC): 13 years 
      • PwBD (SC/ST): 15 years 
      • Ex-Servicemen (ESM): 03 years after deduction of the military service rendered from the actual age. 
      • Serving employees of Autonomous societies under MeitY/DOS/DRDO/DAE: 5 years 
      • Central Govt. Employees (with not less than 3 years regular and continuous service): Up to 40 years of age 
      • Central Govt. Employees (SC/ST) (with not less than 3 years regular and continuous service): Up to 45 years of age 
  • Nationality: Only Indian Nationals need to apply.

Salary & Benefits of Assistant in SCL

Selected candidates will be appointed as ‘Assistant’ in Level-4 of the 7th CPC pay scale.

  • Pay Scale: ₹25,500 – ₹81,100 per month. 
  • Initial Basic Pay: ₹25,500 per month. 
  • Allowances: Dearness Allowance, House Rent Allowance (if not availing SCL Housing facility), and Transport Allowance at prescribed rates. 
  • Pension: Employees will be governed by the National Pension System (NPS). 
  • Other Facilities: Medical facilities for self and dependents, subsidized canteen facility, Leave Travel Concession, advance for construction of house, etc., as per norms. 

Selection Process of Assistant in SCL

The selection process will involve:

  1. Written Examination: An OMR-based written test will be conducted. The test will tentatively be held in New Delhi and Chandigarh/Mohali/Panchkula. The exam will consist of 100 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) divided into Part A and Part B, covering five sections (20 marks each): 
    • Quantitative Aptitude
    • Basic Knowledge of Computer
    • General Intelligence & Reasoning Ability
    • English Comprehension
    • General Knowledge and Current Affairs The duration of the examination will be 120 minutes (2 hours). Compensatory time of 20 minutes per hour will be provided to eligible PwBD candidates. There will be a negative marking of 0.25 marks for every incorrect answer. 
  2. Document Verification: Candidates who secure minimum qualifying marks in the written test will be called for Document Verification. 

Final selection will be based on meeting the prescribed eligibility criteria and performance in the written test. 

How to Apply for SCL Assistant Recruitment 2025

Candidates are required to apply online through the official SCL website:

  1. Visit the SCL website.
  2. The online application portal will be open from May 17, 2025, to May 26, 2025 (11:59 PM). 
  3. Register by providing your full name, date of birth, valid email ID, and valid mobile number. 
  4. Upon registration, an online Registration Number will be provided via SMS/Email. Preserve this for future reference. 
  5. Fill in the application form with correct details. 
  6. Upload scanned copies of your latest passport-sized photograph (not more than three months old, without cap and spectacles, frontal view clearly visible), signature, and left thumb impression (on plain white page). The file size should not be more than 50 KB each. 
  7. Upload requisite certificates, including a computer certificate of minimum 120 hours/03 months issued by an ISO 9001 certified institution (unless possessing a graduation degree in Computers like BCA, B.Sc (IT), B.Tech. (Computer Science)). 
  8. Pay the application fee online.
  9. After submitting the online application, take a printout of the Application Form bearing the Application Number for future correspondence. 
  10. Candidates who have already applied for the post of Assistant in response to Advertisement No. SCL:02/2025 dated 27.01.2025 need not apply again. 

Application Fees

  • UR/EWS/OBC candidates: ₹800/- + GST @ 18% (i.e., ₹944/-). 
  • All women candidates/Scheduled Castes (SC)/Scheduled Tribes (ST)/Ex-Serviceman (ESM) and Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBDs) candidates: ₹400/- + GST @ 18% (i.e., ₹472/-). 
  • Application fee paid by SC/ST/ESM/PwBDs and women candidates (including those who applied earlier) will be refunded (excluding bank charges, if any) subject to their appearance in the written examination. 
  • The application fee is non-refundable under other circumstances.
