Candidates must fulfill the following educational and age requirements:
- Educational Qualification:
- Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s Degree from any University recognized by UGC/Government obtained on or before the notification date (April 4, 2025).
- The degree should follow the pattern: 10+2+3/4/5 or 10+3+2 / 10+3+3 (Diploma) or 10+2+3 (ITI).
- Degrees obtained directly through Open Universities without following the specified patterns are not eligible.
- Age Limit (as on 01.07.2025):
- Minimum Age: 20 years.
- Maximum Age: 30 years (must have been born between 02.07.1995 and 01.07.2005).
- Age Relaxation: Applicable for reserved categories as follows:
- BC, BC(M), MBC/DNC: 32 years.
- SC, SC(A), ST: 35 years.
- Transgender: 35 years.
- Destitute Widow: 37 years.
- Ex-servicemen/Ex-personnel of CAPF (within 3 years of discharge): 47 years.

Salary and Benefits: TNUSRB SI Pay Scale
Selected candidates for the post of Sub-Inspector of Police will be placed in the pay scale of Rs. 36,900 – 1,16,600/-. Additional allowances and benefits will be applicable as per Tamil Nadu Government rules.
Selection Process: TNUSRB SI Recruitment Stages
The selection process involves multiple stages for both Open and Departmental Quota candidates:
For Open Quota Candidates:
- Tamil Language Eligibility Test (Qualifying): 100 marks, Objective type, 100 minutes duration. Minimum 40% marks required.
- Main Written Examination (70 Marks): Part A (GK – 40 Marks) & Part B (Logical/Numerical Analysis, Psychology, Communication, Info Handling – 30 Marks). Objective type, 2.5 hours duration. Minimum 35% marks required.
- Certificate Verification (CV):
- Physical Measurement Test (PMT) (Qualifying): Height and Chest measurements as per norms. Exempted for Ex-servicemen/Ex-CAPF.
- Endurance Test (ET) (Qualifying): Running event (1500m for Men/Ex-servicemen, 400m for Women).
- Physical Efficiency Test (PET) (15 Marks): Includes events like Rope Climbing/Long Jump/Run for Men; Long Jump/Shotput or Ball Throw/Run for Women; Shotput/Long or High Jump/Run for Ex-servicemen.
- Viva-Voce (10 Marks):
- Special Marks (Max 5 Marks): For NCC/NSS/Sports certificates.
For Departmental Quota Candidates (20%):
- Tamil Language Eligibility Test (Qualifying): Same as Open Quota.
