- Must possess a Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline from a recognized University or an equivalent qualification.

- Age Limit (as on January 1, 2025):
- Minimum Age: 21 years
- Maximum Age: 32 years
- Meaning: Candidates must have been born not earlier than January 2, 1993, and not later than January 1, 2004.
- Age Relaxation: The upper age limit is relaxable:
- By 5 years for SC, ST, Women, and Ex-Servicemen candidates.
- By 10 years for Persons with Disabilities (PwD) with 40% or more permanent disability.
- By 15 years cumulative for PwD candidates belonging to SC/ST categories.
- Note: A candidate eligible for multiple relaxation benefits can avail only one, whichever is most beneficial. Ex-servicemen already in government jobs get age relaxation but not reservation benefits for higher posts.
- Citizenship: Must be a Citizen of India.
- Odia Language Proficiency: Candidates must be able to read, write, and speak Odia and have:
- Passed Middle School exam with Odia as a language subject; OR

- Passed Odia as a language subject in the final exam of Class VII or above; OR
- Passed a test in Odia in Middle English School Standard conducted by the School and Mass Education Department.

Salary and Benefits for OPSC ASO
Selected candidates will be appointed as Assistant Section Officers (Group-B) in the Office of the Advocate General, Odisha, Cuttack. The position offers:
- Pay Scale: Rs. 35,400/- per month in Level 9, Cell-1 of the Pay Matrix as per ORSP Rules, 2017.
- Allowances: Usual Dearness Allowance (DA) and other allowances as sanctioned by the Government of Odisha from time to time.
- Pension: Appointees on or after January 1, 2005, will be covered under the defined Contributory Pension Scheme (New Pension Scheme – NPS). Submission of NPS application is mandatory upon joining.
OPSC ASO Selection Process 2025
The selection process involves two successive stages:
- Written Examination (Objective Type – MCQ): 400 Marks
- This stage consists of three papers.
- Paper I: General Awareness (100 Questions, 100 Marks, 1.5 hours).
- Paper II: Test of Reasoning & Mental Ability (50 Qs) + Mathematics (10th Standard Level) (50 Qs) (Total 100 Questions, 100 Marks, 1.5 hours).
- Paper III: Language – English (100 Qs) + Odia (100 Qs) (Total 200 Questions, 200 Marks, 2 hours).
- Negative Marking: 0.25 marks deducted for each wrong answer.
- Qualifying Marks: Candidates must secure minimum qualifying marks in each paper (UR: 35%, SC/ST/PwD: 30%) to be eligible for the skill test.

- Skill Test in Computer (Practical – Qualifying): 50 Marks
- Candidates shortlisted based on written exam marks (1.5 times the vacancies per category) will be called for the Skill Test.
- This test is qualifying in nature.

- Syllabus: Includes Windows, MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), MS Access, and Usage of Internet Services.
- Document Verification:
- Candidates qualifying the written exam will undergo document verification before the skill test. They must produce the hard copy of the online application and original certificates/documents.
Final Selection: The final merit list will be prepared based on the aggregate marks obtained in the Written Examination (out of 400 marks) for candidates who qualify the Skill Test. Tie-breaking rules based on Paper-I marks and then age will apply if needed.
