Eligibility Criteria: Education, Age, and Experience

Candidates must meet the specific eligibility criteria for each post. A completed Ph.D. degree counts as three years of experience. Experience is counted after completing essential qualifications. Age relaxation is applicable for SC/ST/OBC/EWS/PH/Ex-Servicemen as per government rules.

  • Project Scientist III (Post Codes 01, 02, 03)
    • Age Limit: Up to 45 years.
    • Education: Master’s degree (60% marks) in relevant fields (Meteorology, Oceanography, Atmospheric Science, Physics, Geophysics, Electronics, Maths, Stats, Earth System Science, etc.) OR B.E./B.Tech (60% marks) in relevant Engg./Tech fields. Non-Engg. candidates need Physics or Maths at Bachelor’s level. For HPC scheme (Post Code 02), specific CS/IT related qualifications are needed.
    • Experience: Seven (7) years of relevant work/research experience.
  • Project Scientist II (Post Codes 04, 05, 06, 07)
    • Age Limit: Up to 40 years.
    • Education: Similar Master’s degree (60% marks) or B.E./B.Tech (60% marks) as Project Scientist III. Non-Engg. candidates need Physics or Maths at Bachelor’s level. For HPC scheme (Post Code 07), specific CS/IT qualifications are needed.
    • Experience: Three (03) years of relevant work/research experience.
  • Project Scientist I (Post Code 08)
    • Age Limit: Up to 35 years.
    • Education: Master’s degree (60% marks) in Computer Science, IT, Maths, Stats, Physics, Meteorology, etc. OR B.E./B.Tech (60% marks) in Computer Engg/CS/IT.
    • Experience: No mandatory experience mentioned, but desirable qualifications are extensive. Experience is implicitly required as increments are tied to it.
  • JRF/SRF (Post Code 09)
    • Age Limit: Up to 28 years.
    • Education (JRF): Master’s degree (Meteorology, Oceanography, Atmospheric Science, etc.) OR B.E./B.Tech (Mech/CS). Must have qualified NET/CSIR-UGC/GATE/JEST etc. Must have studied Physics or Maths at Graduation. Minimum 60% marks (55% for SC/ST/PC).
    • Education (SRF): JRF qualification + Two years of research experience.
  • Technical Officer (Equiv. to Sc.-C) (Post Code 10)
    • Age Limit: Up to 40 years.
    • Education: Master’s Degree (60% marks) in Computer Science/Applications/IT OR B.E./B.Tech (60% marks) in CS/IT.
    • Experience: Three years of relevant experience.
  • Scientific Consultant/Subject Expert (Post Codes 11, 12)
    • Age Limit: Between 45-65 years.
    • Education: Ph.D. in relevant fields (Atmospheric/Oceanic/Climate Science, Geophysics, Physics, Maths) OR Master’s in Engg./Tech.
    • Experience: Minimum 15 years in project management OR Research/Academic work in Weather/Climate OR Procurement procedure including GFR.

Salary and Benefits

The positions offer competitive consolidated monthly emoluments along with House Rent Allowance (HRA) as applicable. An increment of 5% is provided for every 2 years of experience, subject to performance review, for Project Scientist and Technical Officer roles.

  • Project Scientist III: ₹78,000/- + HRA.
  • Project Scientist II: ₹67,000/- + HRA.
  • Project Scientist I: ₹56,000/- + HRA.
  • SRF: ₹35,000/- + HRA.
  • JRF: ₹31,000/- + HRA.
  • Technical Officer: ₹67,000/- + HRA.
  • Scientific Consultant: Up to ₹1,00,000/- (Consolidated, calculation depends on pension status).

Selection Process

  • Screening: If a large number of applications are received, NCMRWF may shortlist candidates based on a screening process. Mere possession of minimum qualifications does not guarantee an interview call.
  • Interview: Shortlisted candidates will be called for an interview. The list of shortlisted candidates and interview dates will be published on the NCMRWF website. No TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview.
  • Document Verification: Selected candidates must produce original certificates/documents for verification at the time of joining.
  • Medical Fitness: Appointment is subject to being found fit by the medical authority.
