The Meghalaya Public Service Commission (MPSC) invites online applications for the recruitment of Stenographer Grade-I and Stenographer Grade-III posts. A total of 13 vacancies are available. Eligibility Criteria Meghalaya PSC Stenographer Recruitment
Stenographer Grade-I:
- Educational Qualification: Graduate in any discipline from a recognized University.
- Experience: Candidates must have served as Steno Grade II or Grade III under the State Government for not less than 5 (five) years for competing in the Speed Test in English Stenography at 150 wpm, conducted by the Meghalaya Public Service Commission.
- Age Limit: There shall be no age limit for Stenographer Grade-II and Stenographer Grade-III serving under the State Government for competing in the Speed Test, provided they entered service within the prescribed age limit.
Stenographer Grade-III:
- Educational Qualification: Graduate in any discipline from a recognized University with a minimum speed of 80 words per minute (W.P.M) in Shorthand.
- Age Limit: Should have attained the age of 18 years to 32 years as of 01.01.2025.
- Age Relaxation:
- Upper age limit is relaxable by 5 years for SC/ST.
- No age bar in respect of regular Government employees who entered Government service within the prescribed age limit.
- Relaxation for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) as per government notification:
- Direct Recruitment to Group ‘C’ & ‘D’ Posts: Relaxable by 10 years (15 years for STs/SCs).
- Direct Recruitment to Group ‘A’ & ‘B’ Posts (other than through open competitive examination): Relaxable by 5 years (10 years for STs/SCs).
- Direct Recruitment to Group ‘A’ & ‘B’ Posts (through open competitive examination): Relaxable by 10 years (15 years for STs/SCs).
Note: The date of birth accepted by the Commission is as entered in the Matriculation/Secondary School Leaving Certificate or equivalent. No other documents like horoscopes, affidavits, etc., will be accepted.

Salary & Benefits
- Stenographer Grade-I: Level 16 of Revised Pay Structure.
- Stenographer Grade-III: Level 8 of Revised Pay Structure.
- Allowances and other perks will be as per Meghalaya Government norms.
Selection Process
The selection process will differ for each post:
For Stenographer Grade-I:
- Stenography Test:
- Qualifying in nature and shall not be counted for ranking.
- Dictation in English for 3 (Three) minutes at the rate of 150 W.P.M.
- Transcription: 1 (One) hour will be allowed for transcribing and typing the shorthand record.
For Stenographer Grade-III:
- Stenography Test:
- Qualifying in nature and shall not be counted for ranking.
- Dictation in English for 5 (Five) minutes at the rate of 80 W.P.M.
- Transcription: 1 (One) hour will be allowed for transcribing and typing the shorthand record.
- No candidate will be considered to have qualified if the “percentage of errors” in the test exceeds 7.5%.
- Written Examination: (for consideration of Merit)
- English composition of 1 (One) hour duration.
- Only candidates who have qualified in the Stenography test will be called/eligible for the written examination.
- No Personal Interview.

- If you are a new user, complete the one-time registration process.
- Registered users can log in and apply directly.
- Carefully read the instructions before filling out the application form.
- Fill in all the required details and upload necessary documents.
- Pay the application fee using one of the available modes (e-Challan or Online Payment Gateway GRAS).
- Submit the application form before the deadline, which is 17:00 hrs on June 13, 2025.
- Applications received through any other mode will not be accepted.
