Eligibility Criteria for IRCON Assistant Manager/Electrical

Candidates aspiring to apply for the Assistant Manager/Electrical post must meet the specified eligibility criteria regarding educational qualifications, age limit, and post-qualification experience as of 01.05.2025. 

Educational Qualification (as on 01.05.2025)

  • Applicants must possess a Full-Time Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electrical & Electronics Engineering. 
  • The degree must be from a recognized Institute/University approved by AICTE. 
  • A minimum of 60% marks or equivalent grade is required. 

Age Limit (as on 01.05.2025)

  • The maximum age limit for candidates is 30 years. 
  • Age relaxations are applicable as per Government of India guidelines for reserved categories, subject to fulfillment of other criteria. 
  • IRCON’s departmental/contractual employees may also be eligible for age relaxation as per extant Recruitment Rules. 

Post Qualification Experience (as on 01.05.2025)

  • Candidates should have a minimum of 1-year experience in Electrical Construction, Procurement, Installation, Testing, Commissioning, and/or Operation & Maintenance in Railways, Metro Rail, High Speed Rail, or Power Transmission/Distribution utilities. 
  • Experience in Traction Distribution (TRD) construction/maintenance will be preferred. 
  • It is important to note that teaching, training, consultancy, or freelancing experience will not be considered relevant experience. 

Medical Standards

  • Candidates must be in sound health and free from color blindness. 
  • No relaxation in health standards will be permitted.

IRCON Assistant Manager Salary & Benefits

Selected candidates for the Assistant Manager/Electrical post will be placed in the E-1 scale of pay. The compensation package is attractive and includes:

  • Scale of Pay: ₹40000 – ₹140000/- (IDA) 
  • Allowances:
    • Variable Dearness Allowance (DA) (presently @48.7%)
    • House Rent Allowance (HRA) – 27%, 18%, & 9% for X, Y & Z grade cities respectively, or lease rent.
    • Other Allowances @35%
  • Performance Related Pay (PRP): Variable, based on performance rating.

Selection Process for Assistant Manager/Electrical

The selection process for the Assistant Manager/Electrical position will involve:

  1. Written Exam and/or Interview: Eligible candidates will be called for a selection process which may comprise a Written Exam and/or an Interview. 
  2. Document Verification: All information submitted in the application will be verified with original documents at the time of the interview/document verification. 

Shortlisting Criteria (If Applications Exceed 100):

If the number of applications received is more than 100, IRCON will adopt a shortlisting criterion based on weightages:

  • Percentage of marks in prescribed Educational Qualification: 20% weightage. 
    • Above 75%: 20 Marks 
    • Above 70% upto 75%: 15 Marks 
    • Above 65% upto 70%: 10 Marks 
    • 60% & above upto 65%: 5 Marks 
  • Number of years of post-qualification experience (over and above the minimum required): 80% weightage. 
    • Above 5 Yrs: 80 Marks 
    • Above 4 yrs upto 5 yrs: 70 Marks 
    • Above 3 yrs upto 4 yrs: 60 Marks 
    • Above 2 yrs upto 3 yrs: 50 Marks 
    • 1 yr & above upto 2 yrs: 40 Marks 

Based on these scores, candidates will be shortlisted for an interview in a 1:15 ratio.

  5. Gather Documents: Arrange self-attested copies of the following documents:
    • Matriculation certificate for Date of Birth (DOB) proof. 
    • All certificates and mark sheets of Essential Qualification (Graduation). 
    • Experience certificates clearly indicating the length and line of experience. 
    • NOC/Forwarding of application through proper channel (if currently employed in Govt./PSU/Autonomous bodies). An undertaking can be submitted at the interview if obtaining NOC is difficult. 
    • Community certificate (SC/ST/OBC-NCL/EWS), Ex-Serviceman certificate, J&K domicile certificate, PwD certificate (for age relaxation), if applicable. OBC certificates must be current and in the prescribed format. 
    • Valid ID proof (PAN Card/Driving License/Voter ID Card/Aadhar Card). 
  6. Affix Photograph & Sign: Affix a self-attested passport-size photograph on the application form and sign it. 
  7. Send the Application: Place the duly signed application form along with the Demand Draft (if applicable) and all supporting documents in a sealed envelope.
  8. Superscribe the Envelope: Clearly write “Application for regular post of Assistant Manager/Electrical vide Advt. No. 13/2025” on the envelope.
