HPCL R&D Officer Recruitment 2025: Eligibility Criteria
Candidates must meet specific educational qualifications, age limits, and experience requirements to be eligible for these R&D positions.
General Educational Requirements:
- B.E. /B.Tech / M.E. / M.Tech / MBA / Ph.D.
- For positions requiring a Ph.D., the Ph.D. must have been obtained after an M.E/M.Tech, B.E/B.Tech, or M.Sc. in the relevant branch.
- Candidates must have secured a minimum of 65% marks (55% for SC/ST/PwBD candidates) in both Graduation and Post Graduation.
- Candidates with an Integrated Ph.D. are also eligible, provided they can produce a Master’s degree qualification along with their Ph.D. degree.
Age Limit & Experience:
- The maximum age and minimum experience vary significantly depending on the specific position and level (e.g., Senior Officer, Assistant Manager, Chief Manager, DGM, GM, CGM).
- For example, for a Senior Officer (M.Tech), the maximum age is 30 years with 3 years of experience, extendable based on higher experience. For a CGM (Ph.D.), the maximum age is 54 years with 21 years of experience, also extendable.
- A detailed table mapping positions to pay scales, maximum age, minimum educational qualifications, and minimum experience is provided in the notification on pages 3-12.
- Work experience will only be considered if it is post the minimum educational qualification.
- For positions where Ph.D. is mandatory, experience is counted from the date of successful defense of the Ph.D. dissertation/thesis. Research work during the Ph.D. program is not considered as work experience.
- All work experience must be in a supervisory/executive capacity.
- Maximum age relaxation is applicable for SC/ST (5 years), OBCNC (3 years), PwBD (UR-10 years, OBCNC-13 years, SC/ST-15 years), and candidates domiciled in Jammu & Kashmir (5 years for the period 01.01.1980 to 31.12.1989) as per government directives. Ex-servicemen also receive age relaxation.
- The maximum upper age of applicants shall not exceed 56 years, including all possible age relaxations.
- A maximum of 2 years of age relaxation will be given if an applicant’s relevant work experience (completed years) is more than the minimum prescribed relevant work experience.

The selection methodology will involve several stages:
