Eligibility Criteria for Andaman & Nicobar Junior Investigator 2025

Aspiring candidates must meticulously review and meet the following eligibility conditions before applying:

• Citizenship: The applicant must be an Indian Citizen. 
• Educational Qualification:
  • For Junior Investigator (DES) in the Directorate of Economics & Statistics:
    • Essential: A Bachelor’s degree in Statistics/Operation Research/Mathematics/Economics/Commerce (with Statistics as one of the subjects) from a recognized University or equivalent. 
    • Desirable: A Computer certificate from a recognized institute OR One year of experience in the collection, compilation, interpretation, and analysis of Statistical Data. 
  • For Junior Investigator (AH) in the Directorate of Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Services:
    • Essential:
      • A Bachelor’s Degree in Statistics/Operation Research/Mathematics/Economics/Commerce (with Statistics as one of the subjects) from a recognized University or equivalent. 
      • A 1-Year Diploma in Computer Application from a recognized institution. 
    • Desirable: 2 years of experience in the collection, compilation, interpretation, and analysis of Statistical Data. 
• Age Limit (as on the closing date of receipt of online application, i.e., 24.06.2025):
  • For Males: 18 to 33 years. 
  • For Females: 18 to 38 years. A candidate must have attained the age of 18 years and must not have exceeded the upper age limit as specified. 
• Age Relaxation: Permissible beyond the upper age limit for reserved categories as detailed below: 
  • OBC: 3 years (Male up to 36 years, Female up to 41 years). 
  • ST: 5 years (Male up to 38 years, Female up to 43 years). 
  • PwBDs (Unreserved): 10 years (Male up to 43 years, Female up to 48 years). 
  • PwBDs (OBC): 13 years (Male up to 46 years, Female up to 51 years). 
  • PwBDs (ST): 15 years (Male up to 48 years, Female up to 53 years). 
  • Central Government Civilian Employees (with not less than 3 years regular and continuous service as on closing date): Up to 40 years of age (45 years for ST). 
  • DRM and contract employees including SSCT (as per A & N Administration circulars): Up to 40 years of age (45 years for ST). 
  • Note: If a candidate is eligible for age relaxation on two or more grounds, only the highest of the age relaxations will be accorded. PwBDs candidates can also apply for posts not specifically earmarked for them and are eligible for applicable age relaxation. 
• For Departmental Candidates/Government Servants:
  • Must also apply online. 
  • A No Objection Certificate (NOC)/Intimation letter from the Head of the Department/Competent Authority must be uploaded. 
  • To claim age relaxation, a ‘Service Certificate’ indicating the length of continuous service (not less than three years preceding the application closing date) must be uploaded. They should maintain their status as Central Government civilian employees/servants until appointment if selected. 

Important Dates for Andaman & Nicobar Junior Investigator Recruitment 2025

• Online Application Start Date: 26.05.2025 (from 11:00 AM). 
• Online Application Closing Date: 24.06.2025 (upto 12:00 Midnight).

Salary & Benefits: Remuneration for Junior Investigators

Selected candidates for the post of Junior Investigator (DES) and Junior Investigator (AH) will be placed in:

• Pay Scale: Level-4 (Rs. 25,500 – 81,100) in the pay matrix. (Other allowances and benefits will be applicable as per the rules of the Andaman & Nicobar Administration.)

Andaman & Nicobar Junior Investigator Selection Process 2025

The selection of candidates will be made through an “Open Competitive and Common Recruitment Examination,” which will be a Computer Based Test (CBT). 

• Computer Based Test (CBT):
  • The test will consist of three subjects with Objective Multiple-Choice-type Questions. 
  • All questions for the three subjects will be set in the English language only. 
  • Negative Marking: There will be a negative marking of 0.25 marks for each incorrect answer. No marks will be awarded or deducted for unanswered questions. 
• Minimum Qualifying Marks for CBT:
  • General/Unreserved Category candidates: 40% in each subject. 
  • Reserved category (ST, OBC & PwBDs) candidates: 33% in each subject. 
  • The minimum qualifying marks may be relaxed by the competent authority if required to address any deficiency. 
• Final Selection:
  • Candidates qualifying the CBT shall be appointed based on the merit list, subject to the fulfillment of all essential requirements stipulated in the existing Recruitment Rules. 
• Document Verification:
  • All candidates shortlisted after the written examination must get their original certificates/testimonials verified. They will need to submit self-attested copies of these documents in person along with the printed online application at the prescribed venue and time. Failure to do so will result in the cancellation of candidature. 
• Resolution of Tie Cases: If multiple candidates secure equal aggregate marks, the tie will be resolved using the following methods sequentially: 
  1. Date of birth: The candidate older in age gets preference. 
  2. Alphabetical order of names (considering the first name).

Candidates must apply for the Junior Investigator posts through the online mode only.

• Application Window: From 26.05.2025 (11:00 AM) to 24.06.2025 (upto 12:00 Midnight). 
• Important Note: Neither a hard copy of the application form nor copies of certificates/documents need to be sent to the Directorate of Economics & Statistics at the initial stage. Verification will occur later for shortlisted candidates. 

Step-by-Step Guide to Apply Online:

1. Registration: Visit the portal and register your full particulars. 
2. Fill Application Form: Provide all mandatory details in the online portal. Incomplete applications will not be accepted. 
3. Upload Photograph: Upload your latest passport size photograph in .jpg/.jpeg format. The size should be between 20 to 50 KB. The picture should be in colour, against a light-coloured (preferably white) background, with a relaxed face. If flash is used, ensure no red-eye. If wearing glasses, eyes should be visible. The front of the face should cover at least 80% of the entire photo. 
4. Upload Signature: Upload your specimen signature (signed in blue ink) in .jpg/.jpeg format, with a size between 10 to 20 KB. 
5. Upload Documents: Upload copies of the following certificates/documents in .pdf format only (size between 10 to 500 KB each): 
   • Birth Certificate / 10th Pass Certificate/ Matriculation Certificate (issued by CBSE or recognized Board, indicating Name, Date of Birth, Father’s Name, and Mother’s Name). 
   • Graduation Degree Certificate along with mark sheet (clearly indicating Statistics as a Subject) from a recognized Board or University. 
   • One-year diploma certificate in Computer Application issued by any recognized institution (mandatory for Junior Investigator (AH) post). 
   • ST/OBC/PwBDs Certificate issued by the Competent Authority within the jurisdiction of A&N Administration for reserved categories. (OBC Non-Creamy Layer certificate must be issued between 24.06.2022 to 24.06.2025). 
   • No Objection Certificate/Intimation letter for all Departmental Candidates/Govt. Servants. 
   • Service Certificate for Departmental Candidates/Govt. Servants seeking age relaxation, indicating length of continuous service (not less than three years preceding the closing date of online application). 
   • Appointment Order and Experience Certificate for DRM and contractual employees (including SSCT) issued by the Competent Authority. 
6. Employment Exchange Details: Candidates registered with the local Employment Exchange as unemployed must enter their registration number in the appropriate box while filling the online application. 
7. Application Fee Payment: Pay the application fee (if applicable) and upload the transaction slip in .jpg/.jpeg format (size 10 to 500 KB).
