Eligibility Criteria for Andaman & Nicobar Junior Investigator 2025

- A 1-Year Diploma in Computer Application from a recognized institution.
- Desirable: 2 years of experience in the collection, compilation, interpretation, and analysis of Statistical Data.
- Essential:
- For Junior Investigator (DES) in the Directorate of Economics & Statistics:
- Age Limit (as on the closing date of receipt of online application, i.e., 24.06.2025):
- For Males: 18 to 33 years.
- For Females: 18 to 38 years. A candidate must have attained the age of 18 years and must not have exceeded the upper age limit as specified.
- Age Relaxation: Permissible beyond the upper age limit for reserved categories as detailed below:
- OBC: 3 years (Male up to 36 years, Female up to 41 years).
- ST: 5 years (Male up to 38 years, Female up to 43 years).
- PwBDs (Unreserved): 10 years (Male up to 43 years, Female up to 48 years).
- PwBDs (OBC): 13 years (Male up to 46 years, Female up to 51 years).
- PwBDs (ST): 15 years (Male up to 48 years, Female up to 53 years).
- Central Government Civilian Employees (with not less than 3 years regular and continuous service as on closing date): Up to 40 years of age (45 years for ST).
- DRM and contract employees including SSCT (as per A & N Administration circulars): Up to 40 years of age (45 years for ST).
- Note: If a candidate is eligible for age relaxation on two or more grounds, only the highest of the age relaxations will be accorded. PwBDs candidates can also apply for posts not specifically earmarked for them and are eligible for applicable age relaxation.
- For Departmental Candidates/Government Servants:
- Must also apply online.
- A No Objection Certificate (NOC)/Intimation letter from the Head of the Department/Competent Authority must be uploaded.
- To claim age relaxation, a ‘Service Certificate’ indicating the length of continuous service (not less than three years preceding the application closing date) must be uploaded. They should maintain their status as Central Government civilian employees/servants until appointment if selected.

- Pay Scale: Level-4 (Rs. 25,500 – 81,100) in the pay matrix. (Other allowances and benefits will be applicable as per the rules of the Andaman & Nicobar Administration.)
Andaman & Nicobar Junior Investigator Selection Process 2025
The selection of candidates will be made through an “Open Competitive and Common Recruitment Examination,” which will be a Computer Based Test (CBT).
- Computer Based Test (CBT):
- The test will consist of three subjects with Objective Multiple-Choice-type Questions.
- All questions for the three subjects will be set in the English language only.
- Negative Marking: There will be a negative marking of 0.25 marks for each incorrect answer. No marks will be awarded or deducted for unanswered questions.
- Minimum Qualifying Marks for CBT:
- General/Unreserved Category candidates: 40% in each subject.
- Reserved category (ST, OBC & PwBDs) candidates: 33% in each subject.
- The minimum qualifying marks may be relaxed by the competent authority if required to address any deficiency.
- Final Selection:
- Candidates qualifying the CBT shall be appointed based on the merit list, subject to the fulfillment of all essential requirements stipulated in the existing Recruitment Rules.
- Document Verification:
- All candidates shortlisted after the written examination must get their original certificates/testimonials verified. They will need to submit self-attested copies of these documents in person along with the printed online application at the prescribed venue and time. Failure to do so will result in the cancellation of candidature.
- Resolution of Tie Cases: If multiple candidates secure equal aggregate marks, the tie will be resolved using the following methods sequentially:
- Date of birth: The candidate older in age gets preference.
- Alphabetical order of names (considering the first name).
