Eligibility Criteria for BEL Trainee & Project Engineer Recruitment

Aspiring candidates must meet the specified eligibility criteria regarding educational qualifications, age limit, and experience as of the stipulated dates.

Educational Qualification (as on 01.06.2025)

  • Trainee Engineer-I (Electronics):
    • Candidates must possess a B.E./B.Tech/B.Sc Engineering (04 Year course) with Pass Class from a recognized University/Institution. 
    • Relevant disciplines include: Electronics, Electronics & Communication, Electronics & Telecommunication, Communication & Telecommunication. 
  • Project Engineer-I (Electronics):
    • Candidates must possess a B.E./B.Tech/B.Sc Engineering (04 Year course) with Pass Class from a recognized University/Institution. 
    • Relevant disciplines include: Electronics, Electronics & Communication, Electronics & Telecommunication, Communication & Telecommunication. 
  • Candidates must have all years/semester mark sheets and degree certificates. 
  • If CGPA grading is used, a conversion certificate must be attached. 
  • If specialization is not mentioned in the degree, a certificate from the university/institution clarifying specialization is required at the interview. 

Age Limit (as on 01.06.2025)

  • Trainee Engineer-I: The upper age limit is 28 Years for General and EWS candidates. 
  • Project Engineer-I: The upper age limit is 32 Years for General and EWS candidates. 

Age Relaxation:

  • SC & ST candidates: 05 years relaxation. 
  • OBC-NCL candidates: 03 years relaxation. 
  • PwBD Category (minimum 40% disability or more): 10 years age relaxation in addition to category-specific relaxations. 
  • Proof of Date of Birth: SSLC/SSC/ISC Marks Card or any other valid document will be considered. 

Post Qualification Experience (as on 01.06.2024 for Project Engineer-I)

  • Trainee Engineer-I: No prior experience is required (NIL). 
  • Project Engineer-I:
    • Minimum of 02 (Two) years of relevant post-qualification industrial experience is mandatory. 
    • Only relevant post-qualification experience will be considered. 
    • Teaching/Research work, experience in non-profit organizations, internships/project work placements part of academic curriculum will not be considered as experience. 
    • Work experience prior to completing the relevant qualification will not count. 
    • Experience certificates from previous/present employers clearly indicating employment period and post held are required.

Salary Structure and Benefits for BEL Engineers

Selected candidates will be offered a consolidated remuneration and other allowances as per company policy.

Consolidated Remuneration:

  • Project Engineer -I (PE-I):
    • Engaged for an initial period of 03 years, extendable up to a maximum of one more year (total 04 years) based on project requirement and performance. 
    • 1st Year: Rs. 40,000/- per month 
    • 2nd Year: Rs. 45,000/- per month 
    • 3rd Year: Rs. 50,000/- per month 
    • 4th Year (in case of extension): Rs. 55,000/- per month 
  • Trainee Engineer-I (TE-I):
    • Engaged for an initial period of 2 years, extendable up to a maximum of one more year (total 3 years) based on project requirement and performance. 
    • 1st Year: Rs. 30,000/- per month 
    • 2nd Year: Rs. 35,000/- per month 
    • 3rd Year (in case of extension): Rs. 40,000/- per month 

BEL Engineer Selection Process 2025

The selection methodology differs slightly for Trainee Engineers and Project Engineers.

For Trainee Engineer-I:

  1. Written Test: Candidates meeting eligibility criteria will be called for a Written Test. 
    • The test will be for 100 marks. 
    • Selection will be based on merit in the order of category-wise and discipline-wise. 
  2. Minimum Qualifying Marks:
    • General/EWS/OBC-NCL: 35% 
    • SC/ST/PwBD: 30% 
  3. Negative Marking: There will be negative marking of 1/4 (0.25) mark for each incorrect answer. 

For Project Engineer-I:

  1. Written Test: Eligible candidates will be called for a Written Test. 
  2. Interview: Candidates shortlisted based on the Written Test performance will be called for an Interview. 
  3. Minimum Qualifying Marks (Written Test):
    • General/EWS/OBC-NCL: 35% 
    • SC/ST/PwBD: 30% The venue for the Written Test and Interview for Project Engineer-I will be the Kotdwara Unit.

Application Fees for BEL Engineer Posts

  • Project Engineer-I:
    • General, EWS, and OBC candidates: Rs. 472/- (Application fee Rs. 400/- + 18% GST). 
  • Trainee Engineer-I:
    • General, EWS, and OBC candidates: Rs. 177/- (Application fee Rs. 150/- + 18% GST). 
  • SC/ST/PwBD Candidates: Exempted from payment of application fee. 

Documents to be Attached with the Application:

Candidates must attach self-attested photocopies of the following:

  • SSLC/SSC/10th Standard marks card or any other valid document as proof of Date of Birth. 
  • B.E./B.Tech/B.Sc Engineering Degree certificate (as applicable), clearly indicating the discipline and class obtained. 
  • All semester marks cards or consolidated marks card. 
  • CGPA conversion document (wherever applicable).
  • Caste/Tribe/Community/Disability/Economic status certificate (SC/ST/OBC-NCL/PwBD/EWS) in the prescribed format. OBC (NCL) certificate should be issued on or after 01.04.2024. 
  • Post qualification work experience certificate/s from previous/current employer. If current employment certificate is not produced, attach offer of current appointment, Employee ID proof, and latest pay slip. 
  • For candidates in PSUs/Govt. organizations: Application through proper channel or ‘No Objection Certificate’ at the interview. 
  • Government issued Identity Proof (Aadhar card / Driving License / Voter ID).
