ISRO NRSC Selection Process Explained

The selection for these posts will be a two-stage process: a Written Test and a Skill Test.

Tier 1: Computer Based Test (CBT)

This is the first and most important stage. Your score in this test will determine the final merit list.

  • Exam Pattern: The test will have 80 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs).
  • Duration: You will get 1.5 hours (90 minutes) to complete the test.
  • Marking Scheme: You get +1 mark for every correct answer.
  • Negative Marking: Be careful! There is a negative marking of -0.33 marks (or 1/3rd) for every wrong answer.
  • Syllabus: The questions will test your theoretical and practical knowledge in your specific trade or discipline (e.g., Civil, ITI Electronic Mechanic, etc.).

Tier 2: Skill Test

Candidates who perform well in the CBT will be shortlisted for the Skill Test in a 1:5 ratio (for every 1 vacancy, 5 candidates will be called).

  • Nature of Test: This test is purely qualifying. It is conducted on a “go-no-go” basis, meaning you either pass or fail.
  • Total Marks: The Skill Test will be for 100 marks.
  • Qualifying Marks: General candidates need to score 50 out of 100, while reserved category candidates need 40 out of 100 to pass.

Final Selection: The final merit list will be prepared based only on the marks you score in the Computer Based Test (CBT). You must qualify for the Skill Test, but its marks will not be added to the final list.
