Eligibility Criteria for SECR Trade Apprentice Recruitment 2025

Candidates must meet the following criteria to be eligible for the SECR Trade Apprentice Recruitment 2025:

  • Educational Qualification:
    • Must have passed Matriculation (10th Class) or its equivalent examination with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks.
    • Must possess a National Trade Certificate (ITI) in the notified trade, issued by NCVT or SCVT. Candidates must enter both 10th and ITI marks accurately on the portal.
  • Age Limit (as on 05.04.2025):
    • Minimum Age: 15 years.
    • Maximum Age: 24 years.
  • Age Relaxation: Applicable as per government norms:
    • SC/ST Candidates: 5 years.
    • OBC Candidates: 3 years.
    • Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PWBD) & Ex-Servicemen: 10 years.
    • The date of birth ranges are specified in the notification.
  • Experience: No prior experience is typically required for Act Apprentice roles. However, candidates who have already undergone apprenticeship training are not eligible to apply.

Salary & Benefits (Stipend)

Selected candidates will undergo apprenticeship training for a period of one year. During this training, they will receive a monthly stipend as per the prescribed rates set by the Central Apprenticeship Council:

  • For 2-year ITI Courses: ₹ 8050/- per month.
  • For 1-year ITI Courses: ₹ 7700/- per month.

Note: No other allowances like DA, TA, or accommodation will be provided by the Railways. This training does not guarantee employment with the Railways upon completion.

Selection Process

The selection process for SECR Trade Apprentices involves the following stages:

  1. Merit List Preparation: A merit list will be prepared based on the percentage of marks obtained in Matriculation (minimum 50% aggregate) plus marks obtained in the ITI examination in the relevant trade. The calculation method gives equal weightage to both 10th and ITI marks. For boards using grades, a standard calculation method will be applied.
  2. Tie-Breaking: In case of a tie in marks, the older candidate will be preferred. If the date of birth is also the same, the candidate who passed the Matriculation exam earlier will be considered first.
  3. Document Verification: Shortlisted candidates will be called for verification of original testimonials (educational certificates, ITI certificate, caste certificate, disability certificate if applicable, etc.).
  4. Medical Examination: Candidates must be found fit in the appropriate medical examination conducted by the Railways as per the Apprenticeship Act 1961.
