What is the Eligibility for DGQA Technician Recruitment 2026?
Only Indian nationals can apply. The two posts need different qualifications, and the trade lists are not the same, so match your ITI trade carefully. Candidates with an ITI qualification in the listed trade, or an equivalent Defence Services Tradesman Course, are the target group.

Machinist and Pattern Maker are open for Skilled only. Book Binder and Carpenter are open for Semi Skilled only. If you hold a higher qualification, you must still disclose it in the form. Not disclosing it is a ground for rejection.
Age Limit
The minimum age is 18 years. Age is counted on the closing date for candidates in India, not on the extended date given to remote areas. ESM age is counted after deducting military service from actual age.

Central Government civilian employees claiming relaxation need the Annexure-I certificate showing at least three years of continuous service on the closing date. They must stay Central Government employees until appointment.
Medical Standards
You must be in good mental and physical health with no deformity that disturbs your duties. Candidates with night blindness or colour blindness are declared medically unfit, whatever their performance in any earlier stage. The medical exam happens before the offer of appointment.

The paper follows the Tenth Standard / Matriculation syllabus of Central and State Boards, and wrong answers do not lose marks, as clause 10.1 of the notification says. Exact date, time and venue come on your admit card, which is posted to the self-addressed envelope you send. The notification does not state the exam duration or qualifying marks. Names of shortlisted candidates are published on the day of the Written Test or the next day. Ties are broken by older date of birth, then higher Numerical Aptitude marks, then higher English marks. Passing the tests gives no right to appointment. Appointment depends on verification of documents, medical report and character and antecedents. DGQA can also cancel, postpone or suspend the recruitment at any stage.

The notification prints no calendar date. Clause 9.4 fixes the closing date at 21 days from publication in Employment News, and 28 days for Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram, Manipur, Nagaland, Tripura, Sikkim, Ladakh, Jammu and Kashmir, Lahaul and Spiti, Pangi in Chamba, Andaman and Nicobar, and Lakshadweep. Both dates are our calculation from the 17 October issue date. Post well ahead, since the form must reach Kanpur on time. Do not count on a few extra days: late receipt is rejected even when the post office is to blame. Speed Post with tracking is the safer choice, and the booking slip is your only proof that you sent it.
