Educational Qualification
- Matriculation (10th Class): Must have passed with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks from a recognized Board
- ITI Certificate: Must possess an ITI certificate in the relevant trade, affiliated to NCVT (National Council for Vocational Training)
- Candidates must have already passed both SSC and ITI as on the date of notification (18/02/2026). Those whose results are awaited are not eligible
- Engineering graduates and diploma holders are NOT eligible under this notification — they fall under a separate apprenticeship scheme
Age Limit for RRC WR Apprentice 2026
- Minimum Age: 15 years
- Maximum Age: 24 years (as on 23/03/2026 — closing date)
Age Relaxation:
– SC/ST: 5 years (upper limit becomes 29 years)
– OBC: 3 years (upper limit becomes 27 years)
– PwBD: 10 years (upper limit becomes 34 years)
– Ex-Servicemen: 10 years + length of defence service + 3 years additional
What is the Stipend for RRC WR Apprentice 2026?
Selected candidates will undergo Apprenticeship Training for a period of one year at various Divisions and Workshops of Western Railway.

Merit List Preparation
The merit list is prepared by taking the average of:
– Percentage of marks in Matriculation (SSC/10th) — all subjects included
– Percentage of marks in ITI examination
Both are given equal weightage (50% each). The final merit percentage = (SSC % + ITI %) ÷ 2.
Tie-Breaking Rule
If two candidates have the same merit marks, preference goes to the older candidate. If dates of birth are also identical, the one who passed Matriculation earlier gets priority.
