Two points decide eligibility for a lot of diploma holders. First, experience counts only if it was earned after you finished the qualification — internship, training or research done while you were studying is not accepted. Second, a degree or diploma in a prohibited discipline such as Engineering taken through Open and Distance Learning or Online mode is not accepted unless it is recognised under the applicable statutory rules. The B.Tech degree or engineering diploma awarded by IGNOU to students enrolled up to 2009-10 is still valid.

Paper-I carries 200 marks in all, with 0.25 marks deducted for every wrong answer. Paper-II has 100 questions of your chosen subject for 300 marks, and deducts one full mark per wrong answer — so guessing is far more expensive there. Minimum qualifying marks in each paper are 30% for UR, 25% for OBC and EWS, and 20% for all other categories. Only the normalised Paper-II score decides the final merit, and separate merit lists are drawn for JE (Civil), JE (Electrical & Mechanical), JE (Telecom) and Scientific Assistant. What Conditions Can Cancel Your SSC JE 2026 Candidature?

These clauses sit deep inside the notice, and each one has ended real candidatures.

Subject opted	The subject or stream you choose in the form will not be changed under any circumstances

Inside the exam lab	The IS 456:2000 code table, the Steam Table and a scientific calculator are provided on your console; no physical version of them may be taken into the exam lab
Missing exam details	Timetable and exam city go up about 10 days before the paper; if your details are not there one week before, contact your Regional Office at once with proof of submission — failing that you lose any claim for consideration
Exam-day documents	If you did not opt for Aadhaar-based authentication, report two hours before the start and carry the Admission Certificate, two recent passport-size colour photographs and an original valid photo-ID with the date of birth as printed on the Admission Certificate, failing which you will not be allowed entry; if the ID has no date of birth, also carry an original proof of it such as the Matriculation Certificate, and a date-of-birth mismatch means you cannot appear
Scribe declaration	If the qualification of your scribe is later found to be different from what you declared, you forfeit your right to the post and all claims relating thereto
Who may be a scribe	A candidate in this examination cannot be another candidate’s scribe — if found, both candidatures are cancelled; scribe and compensatory-time documents must also be produced at Document Verification or the candidature is cancelled
Name and date of birth	Write your name and date of birth exactly as recorded in your matriculation certificate; a date-of-birth variation noticed at the examination venue means you will not be allowed to appear, and a name or date-of-birth variation found at Document Verification gets the candidature cancelled
Misconduct	Candidates found indulging in any of the listed malpractices have their candidature cancelled, face legal action, and are debarred from the Commission’s examinations for the specified period
Marriage	A person who has contracted a marriage with a person having a spouse living, or who having a spouse living has contracted another marriage, shall not be eligible for appointment unless the Central Government exempts them
Nationality	You must be a citizen of India, or a subject of Nepal or Bhutan, or a person of Indian origin who migrated from the countries listed in the notice; everyone other than an Indian citizen needs a certificate of eligibility from the Government of India before appointment
