Two points decide eligibility for a lot of diploma holders. First, experience counts only if it was earned after you finished the qualification — internship, training or research done while you were studying is not accepted. Second, a degree or diploma in a prohibited discipline such as Engineering taken through Open and Distance Learning or Online mode is not accepted unless it is recognised under the applicable statutory rules. The B.Tech degree or engineering diploma awarded by IGNOU to students enrolled up to 2009-10 is still valid.

Paper-I carries 200 marks in all, with 0.25 marks deducted for every wrong answer. Paper-II has 100 questions of your chosen subject for 300 marks, and deducts one full mark per wrong answer — so guessing is far more expensive there.
