Eligibility Criteria — UPSC EPFO APFC 2026

Educational Qualification

The advertisement prescribes no minimum percentage and no experience, so this is open to any graduate looking for a government career. Meeting the essential qualification is only the minimum — it does not by itself earn an interview call.

RequirementDetail
EssentialDegree of a recognised university or equivalent — any stream, any discipline
Desirable (not compulsory)Diploma in Company Law, Labour Laws or Public Administration
Claiming an equivalent qualificationUpload the order or letter, with number and date, of the authority that treated it as equivalent — without it the application is liable to be rejected
PwBD benchmarkA disability certificate of 40% or more is needed for PwBD reservation and concessions. A temporary condition certified as “likely to improve” is not eligible for reservation; progressive, non-progressive and “not likely to improve” conditions are
Relaxation of qualificationsThe Commission may relax them, for reasons recorded in writing, for candidates who are otherwise well qualified
NationalityCitizen of India; or a subject of Nepal or Bhutan, a Tibetan refugee who came to India before 1 January 1962, or a person of Indian origin who migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, the listed East African countries or Vietnam — these four with a certificate of eligibility from the Government of India

Age Limit

Your age is reckoned as on 11 September 2026, the closing date for applications.

CategoryUpper Age Limit
UR and EWS35 years
OBC38 years
SC and ST40 years

🎂 Not sure if you meet the age criteria? Use our free Age Calculator for Government Exams to find your exact age on the cut-off date and instantly check your eligibility — including SC / ST / OBC / PwBD age relaxation. →

RelaxationExtent
PwBDUp to 10 years, subject to a maximum age of 56 years
Ex-Servicemen, and Commissioned Officers including ECOs and SSCOs5 years, if continuous service in the Armed Forces after attestation is not less than six months as on the closing date
Central and U.T. Government servants5 years, with 3 years’ continuous service in a post in the same line or an allied cadre — a maximum of 10 years in all for SC and ST, 8 years for OBC
Employees of the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation5 years

SC, ST and OBC relaxation applies only against vacancies reserved for that category. PwBD is the exception — the age relaxation is admissible whether or not the vacancy is reserved for PwBD, provided the post is identified suitable for that disability. PwBD reservation, age relaxation and fee exemption each need a benchmark disability of 40% or more — but the scribe and compensatory time reach below 40% too.

What is the Salary for UPSC EPFO APFC 2026?

Here we will be precise rather than convenient. The advertisement states the pay in exactly one line — Level-10 in the Pay Matrix as per 7th CPC — and no rupee pay figure appears anywhere in the document. So if you see a website quoting an exact in-hand salary “from the notification”, treat it with caution, because that number is not in the official advertisement.

What the advertisement does confirm is the surrounding package: the post is permanent, probation is one year, and the National Pension System applies from 1 January 2004. Headquarters is New Delhi with all-India service liability. The Commission may also grant a higher initial pay to candidates adjudged meritorious in the interview.

What is the Selection Process for UPSC EPFO APFC 2026?

Selection is by a Recruitment Test followed by an Interview, and you must reach the minimum level of suitability in your category at both stages.

StageMarksKey Details
Recruitment Test300Pen-and-paper OMR test on 20 December 2026, 2 hours, objective, four alternatives per question, all questions equal marks, in English and Hindi. One-third of the marks assigned to a question is deducted for a wrong answer. Marking more than one answer counts as a wrong answer and carries the same penalty even if one of them is correct; an unattempted question carries no penalty. The qualifying mark for the test is fixed by the Commission case by case
Interview100Date intimated separately. Bring the printout of your online application with the original documents and self-attested copies — failing to produce them disqualifies you from the interview and forfeits the Commission’s contribution to your travel expenses. Canvassing in any form disqualifies you outright
Indicative weightage75:25Recruitment Test to Interview — the Commission states this is the weightage that may be adopted, as adopted in the previous case

Minimum suitability in the Interview is 50 marks and above for General and EWS, 45 and above for OBC and 40 and above for SC, ST and PwBD, the last two bands on relaxed standards. If applications run large, the Commission may shortlist by any of six methods: the desirable qualification, a higher educational qualification, higher experience, experience counted before or after the essential qualification, experience invoked even where none is prescribed, or the Recruitment Test itself.

The Test syllabus broadly comprises nine areas.

No.Syllabus Area
1General English
2Indian Culture, Heritage and Freedom Movements
3Developmental Issues and Present Trends in the Indian Economy
4Governance and the Constitution of India
5General Science and Basic Knowledge of Computer Applications
6Elementary Mathematics, Statistics and General Mental Ability
7Industrial Relations, Labour Codes and Social Security in India
8Principles of Accountancy, Auditing and Insurance
9Current Events of National and International Importance

Our syllabus and exam preparation section can help you build a plan around the labour-law and accountancy portions. Five rules decide outcomes before the paper begins.

RuleWhat it means for you
Exam centres84 centres across India, each also catering to candidates with benchmark disability. Every centre carries a capacity ceiling except Chennai, Dispur, Kolkata and Nagpur, and allotment is first-apply-first-allot — so apply early. No request for a change of centre is entertained at any stage
Scribe and extra timeCandidates with blindness, both arms affected or cerebral palsy get a scribe and compensatory time of 20 minutes per hour of the test. Other benchmark-disability candidates, and those below 40% who have difficulty writing, get both on the prescribed medical certificate
OMR encodingAny mistake in encoding your Roll Number and Test Booklet Series Code makes the answer sheet liable for rejection. Mark answers with a black ball pen only
Photo ID and face authenticationThe details of one photo ID — Aadhaar, Voter ID, PAN, passport, driving licence or another Government-issued photo card — must be entered in your URN profile, and you must carry that same card to the test and the interview. Face authentication at the venue is mandatory for every candidate, so reach early for verification and frisking
Banned itemsMobile phones, even switched off, pagers, electronic devices, storage media, smart watches, cameras and Bluetooth devices are prohibited in the examination and interview hall
