- All candidates must have passed Matriculation and 10+2 from a Himachal Pradesh school (Matriculation or 10+2 for Post Code 25024). This does not apply to Bonafide Himachalis.
- For Post Code 25023, SC/ST/OBC and PHH candidates get a 5% relaxation in eligibility marks.
- For Steno Typist, the candidate must pass shorthand in one language and typing in both languages at the time of initial recruitment. Shorthand in the second language must be passed within three years of appointment.
- Steno Typist candidates must also have knowledge of word processing on computer.

- The certificate of Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe and Other Backward Classes must be on a parental basis, failing which candidature will be rejected.
