The Pay Level determines your basic pay range. For instance, a Technical Assistant at Level 7 has a basic pay starting at ₹44,900 and can grow to ₹1,42,400 through annual increments and promotions. On top of this basic pay, you receive several allowances, which significantly increase your in-hand salary.

  • Dearness Allowance (DA): This is a percentage of your basic pay, revised biannually to offset the impact of inflation. It currently stands at a significant rate, boosting your monthly earnings.
  • House Rent Allowance (HRA): This allowance helps you with accommodation costs and varies based on your city of posting (X, Y, or Z class cities). For postings in Bengaluru, you receive a higher HRA.
  • Transport Allowance (TA): This is provided to cover your daily travel expenses between your residence and office.

Beyond these, ISRO employees enjoy a host of other benefits:

ISRO LPSC Selection Process Explained

The selection process is designed to test both theoretical knowledge and practical skills. It consists of two main stages:

Tier 1: Written Test

  • This is a computer-based test (CBT) that serves as the primary shortlisting criterion.
  • For Technical Assistant & Technician (Post No. 792, 793, 795, 796 & 797):
    • Duration: 90 minutes
    • Questions: 80 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) based on the specific trade/discipline curriculum.
    • Marking Scheme: +1 mark for a correct answer, -0.33 marks for a wrong answer.
  • For Sub Officer (Post No. 794):
    • Duration: 120 minutes
    • Questions: 100 MCQs.

Tier 2: Skill Test

  • Candidates who perform well in the written test will be shortlisted for the Skill Test in a 1:5 ratio.
  • The Skill Test is qualifying in nature (‘go-no-go’ basis). The marks obtained here will not be considered for the final merit list.
  • You must secure the minimum qualifying marks (e.g., 60% for Drivers, 50/100 for others) to pass this stage.
  • For the Sub Officer post, this stage involves a Physical Efficiency Test (PET) and a Detailed Medical Examination (DME).
