Selection Process Explained

The selection process is rigorous to ensuring only the best candidates are chosen. It generally involves the following stages:

  1. Physical Standards Test (PST) & Physical Efficiency Test (PET):
    • PST: Candidates are measured for Height and Chest (for males). Failure to meet the minimum requirements leads to immediate disqualification.
    • PET: This is crucial and usually carries 40 Marks. Events typically include a Race (1600m/3200m) and Long Jump. Performance in these events determines your marks.
  2. Trade Proficiency Test (For Technical/Grade IV Posts):
    • For posts like Cook, Barber, Driver, or technical roles, a practical test is conducted to assess skill proficiency. This often carries 50 Marks and replaces the written test for some Grade IV posts.
  3. Written Test:
    • For Constables, Foresters, etc., a written exam is conducted.
    • Subjects: Elementary Arithmetic, General English, Logical Reasoning, Assam’s History/Geography/Polity, and General Awareness.
    • Format: OMR-based multiple-choice questions.
    • Level: Class IX/X level (Degree level for Forester-I). Negative marking is usually applicable (e.g., 1/2 mark deduction).
  4. Oral / Viva Voce:
    • Qualified candidates are called for an interview/personality test, typically carrying 5 Marks.
  5. Document Verification:
    • Original certificates (Age, Education, Caste, etc.) are verified.
