UPPSC Principal (Technical Education) Eligibility Criteria 2025

Candidates must fulfill the following educational and age limit criteria to be eligible for the UPPSC Principal post:

Educational Qualification & Experience

  • Option 1:
    • Ph.D. and First Class (minimum 60% marks if class/division not awarded ) at either Bachelor’s or Master’s level in the relevant discipline (as per AICTE approved Diploma Courses list).
    • Minimum 16 years of experience in Teaching (degree or diploma level) / Research / Industry in technical education.
    • Out of the 16 years, at least 3 years must be post-Ph.D. experience.
    • At least 5 years of experience must be not below the level of Head of Department (HOD).
  • OR Option 2:
    • First Class (minimum 60% marks if class/division not awarded ) at Bachelor’s or Master’s level in the relevant discipline (as per AICTE approved Diploma Courses list).
    • Minimum 20 years of experience in Teaching (degree or diploma level) / Research / Industry in technical education.
    • Out of the 20 years, at least 5 years of experience must be not below the level of HOD.
  • Note on CGPA: If a Grade Point System is used, CGPA will be converted to equivalent percentage marks as specified in the notification.

Age Limit (as of July 1, 2025)

  • Minimum Age: 35 years
  • Maximum Age: 50 years
  • (Candidates must not have been born earlier than July 2, 1975, and not later than July 1, 1990).

Age Relaxation

  • SC/ST/OBC of U.P., State Govt. Employees of U.P., Teachers/Staff of Basic Shiksha Parishad & Govt. Aided Madhyamik Vidyalayas of U.P.: 5 years relaxation in the upper age limit. (Must not have been born before July 2, 1970).
  • Persons with Disabilities (PWD) of U.P.: 15 years relaxation in the upper age limit.
  • Emergency Commissioned/Short Service Commissioned Officers/Ex-Army Personnel of U.P.: 3 years + Period of service rendered in the Army.
  • Note: Age relaxation benefits are applicable only for permanent residents of U.P..

Salary and Benefits (Pay Scale)

Selected candidates for the UPPSC Principal post will be placed in the following pay scale:

  • Level: 13A1 (Group ‘A’ Gazetted)
  • Pay Scale: Rs. 1,31,400/- to Rs. 2,04,700/-
  • Entry Pay: Rs. 1,31,400/-
  • (Allowances and other benefits will be as per Uttar Pradesh Government rules).

UPPSC Principal Selection Process 2025

The selection process involves the following stages:

  1. Written Examination: Consists of two objective-type papers.
    • Paper I: General Hindi (25 Questions, 75 Marks) & General Studies I (100 Questions, 300 Marks). Total Marks: 375. Duration: 2.5 Hours. 
    • Paper II: General Studies II (125 Questions, 375 Marks). Total Marks: 375. Duration: 2.5 Hours. 
    • Total Written Exam Marks: 750 Marks.
    • Note: There will be negative marking (one-third mark deduction) for wrong answers. Minimum efficiency standards apply (40% for General, 35% for SC/ST).
  2. Interview: Candidates declared successful in the written examination (three times the number of vacancies) will be called for an interview. The interview carries 100 marks.
  3. Document Verification: Original certificates will be verified at the time of the interview. Candidates serving under Central/State Government must produce a ‘No Objection Certificate’.

The final selection will be based on the total marks obtained in the written examination and the interview (Total 850 Marks).

How to Apply Online for UPPSC Principal Vacancy

Candidates must apply online through the UPPSC’s official website. Follow these steps:

  1. One Time Registration (OTR): It is mandatory to obtain an OTR Number before applying. If not registered, visit this link at least 72 hours before applying.
  2. Visit Official Website: Go to the UPPSC website.
  3. Find Advertisement: Click on “ALL NOTIFICATIONS/ADVERTISEMENTS”. Find the advertisement for the U.P. Technical Education (Teaching) Services Examination, 2025.
  4. Apply: Click on ‘Apply’. Authenticate using your OTR Number and OTP/Password.
  5. Fill Details: Your personal details will be auto-filled from OTR. Fill in the required essential and preferential qualification details.
  6. Submit Application Part-2: Verify addresses and other details.
  7. Fee Payment: Proceed to pay the application fee online through SBI MOPS (Net Banking, Card Payments, Other Payment Modes).
  8. Print Application: After successful fee payment, take a printout of the final submitted application form and the payment transaction slip for future reference. Do not send hard copies to the commission unless specifically asked for.
