Eligibility Criteria — AAU Non-Teaching Recruitment 2026

Educational Qualification

  • Senior Scientist and Head: Doctoral degree in Agriculture, Animal Science, Fisheries, Community Science, Horticulture or Sericulture with 8 years of experience.
  • Subject Matter Specialist: Master’s degree in Agriculture, Animal Science or Fisheries Science from a recognised University.
  • Farm Manager and Programme Assistant (Lab. Technician): Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture, Animal Science, Fishery Science, Horticulture or Community Science.
  • Programme Assistant (Computer): Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Application or Information Technology.
  • Assistant: Bachelor’s Degree in any subject with 5 years of experience in Accounts and establishment.
  • Stenographer Grade-III: Bachelor’s degree with working knowledge of computers (dictation test at 80 w.p.m.).
  • Driver: HSLC pass with a valid driving licence for heavy and light vehicles and 2 years of driving experience.
  • Supporting Staff Grade-I: Matriculation or ITI pass.

A computer or IT graduate can apply for the Programme Assistant (Computer) post.

Age Limit

Age is counted as on 1 January 2026. There is no upper age limit for in-service AAU candidates.

What is the Salary for AAU Non-Teaching 2026 Posts?

The pay is fixed as per the 7th CPC Pay Matrix under ICAR norms. The notification clearly states the initial pay for each post.

  • Senior Scientist and Head: ₹1,31,400 (Level-13A)
  • Subject Matter Specialist: ₹56,100 (Level-10)
  • Farm Manager / Programme Assistant / Assistant: ₹35,400 (Level-6)
  • Stenographer Grade-III: ₹25,500 (Level-4)
  • Driver: ₹21,700, Supporting Staff: ₹18,000 (Level-3)

With Dearness Allowance, House Rent Allowance and other allowances added, the in-hand salary is higher than the basic pay shown above.

What is the Selection Process for AAU Non-Teaching 2026?

Selection is done by Assam Agricultural University as per its recruitment rules for each post. Candidates are shortlisted on the basis of qualification and merit, and some posts have a skill test.

Skill / Practical Test

For the Stenographer Grade-III post, candidates take a dictation test at 80 words per minute and transcribe it on a computer. For the Driver post, a practical driving skill test is conducted by the University committee. The final selection and document verification are carried out by AAU as per the advertisement.
