What Is the Eligibility for Assam Rifles Recruitment 2026?
Who Can Apply (Compassionate Ground Eligibility)
This recruitment is exclusively for dependent family members (spouse, son, daughter, or dependent brother/sister of unmarried personnel) of:
- Assam Rifles personnel who died in harness (killed in action, died during CI operations, or died while in service including suicide)
- Personnel who were medically boarded out under Para 26 of AR Rules 2010
- Permanent civil employees of AR who died during service or retired on medical grounds
- Wards of missing service personnel (after 2 years from missing date, with FIR and court order)
No other candidates are eligible to apply under this scheme.
Educational Qualification
- Rifleman / Riflewoman (GD): 10th class pass from a recognised Board
- Warrant Officer (Cipher): 12th pass + 2-year ITI in Radio & Television or Electronics, OR Bachelor’s Degree in Electronics or IT
- Havildar Clerk: 12th pass (10+2) from a recognised Board. Must qualify typing test — English 35 wpm OR Hindi 30 wpm on computer
- Rifleman (EFS — Electrical Fitter Signal): 10th pass with Science, Maths & English
- Rifleman Lineman Field: 10th pass + ITI in Electrician trade
- Rifleman Armourer / Mason: 10th pass from a recognised Board
- Rifleman Recovery Vehicle Mechanic: 10th pass + ITI in Recovery Vehicle Mechanic or RV Operator
- Rifleman EMV (Electrician Mechanic Vehicle): 10th pass + ITI in Motor Mechanic
- Rifleman Metalsmith: 10th pass + ITI in Metalsmith trade
- Rifleman Store Keeper Technical: Matric with English, Maths & Science with Physics
- Rifleman Vehicle Mechanic: Matric with English, Maths & Science + Diploma / ITI certificate
- Rifleman Engineer Equipment Mechanic: 10th pass + ITI in Engineer Equipment Mechanic
Age Limit (as on 1 January 2026)
Most posts have an age limit of 18-23 years. Three posts have an extended limit of 18-25 years: Warrant Officer Cipher, Havildar Clerk, and Rifleman Recovery Vehicle Mechanic. Under CGA Scheme, additional relaxation of up to 15 years on upper age is available (widow: up to 40 years).
What Is the Salary for Assam Rifles Recruitment 2026?
As per the notification, pay scale and other allowances will be as admissible to Assam Rifles personnel under the 7th Pay Commission.
- Rifleman (GD and Trades): Pay Level 3 — ₹21,700 – ₹69,100
- Havildar Clerk: Pay Level 4 — ₹25,500 – ₹81,100
- Warrant Officer (Cipher): Pay Level 5 — ₹29,200 – ₹92,300
With all allowances (DA, HRA, Risk Allowance, Ration Money, etc.), the approximate in-hand salary for a Rifleman ranges from ₹30,000 to ₹40,000 per month and for Havildar / WO from ₹40,000 to ₹55,000 per month.

What Is the Selection Process for Assam Rifles Recruitment 2026?
Written test is EXEMPTED under the Compassionate Ground Appointment Scheme. Selection involves the following stages at the recruitment rally:
Stage 1: RFID-Based Physical Efficiency Test (PET)
Males (all India except Ladakh): 2.4 km run in 12 minutes (age 18-30) or 14 minutes (age 30+). Females (all India except Ladakh): 1.6 km run in 8 min 30 sec (age 18-30) or 9 min 30 sec (age 30+).
Stage 2: Physical Standards Test (PST)
Height, chest, and weight verification. For GD posts: Male height 170 cm, Female 157 cm (relaxation for NE states, SC/ST, and hill region candidates). Havildar Clerk: Male 165 cm, Female 155 cm.
Stage 3: Computer Based Trade (Skill) Test
For all technical and trade posts (not required for GD). Practical assessment in the relevant trade — candidates are assessed as Pass or Fail.
Stage 4: Document Verification & Medical Examination
Verification of all original documents including CGA eligibility proof, followed by Detailed Medical Examination as per CAPF standards. Review Medical Examination available within 24 hours if declared unfit.
Rally Location: Lokhra, Guwahati, Assam (tentatively July-August 2026). Exact dates will be intimated individually via call letter.
