Eligibility Criteria – BHEL Apprentice Recruitment 2026
Educational Qualification
The basic qualification is the same for all trades, only the ITI trade changes. Read the points below carefully.
- Matric / SSC pass, AND a regular full-time ITI (NCVT) in the relevant trade.
- Minimum 60% marks in ITI for General / EWS / OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) candidates.
- Minimum 55% marks in ITI for SC / ST candidates.
- ITI must be completed in or after 2023.
- Candidates who already did apprenticeship training, or have one year or more of work experience after ITI, are not eligible.

Age Limit
The age is calculated as on 1 July 2026.

What is the Salary / Stipend for BHEL Trade Apprentice 2026?
A fixed monthly stipend is paid during the one-year apprenticeship, as per Apprenticeship guidelines. The amount depends on the trade.
- ₹11,040 per month: Fitter, Machinist, Turner, Electrician and Electronic Mechanic trades.
- ₹10,560 per month: Welder, Carpenter and Foundryman trades.
The in-hand stipend ranges from ₹10,560 to ₹11,040 per month, which is a good support amount during training.
The stipend is paid every month during the one-year training period and may be revised as per Apprenticeship guidelines. It helps young candidates cover their daily expenses while they learn valuable trade skills. On top of this, BHEL also provides a hostel facility and subsidised food in the canteen, which makes it much easier for outstation candidates to stay and train comfortably without worrying about high living costs.
What is the Selection Process for BHEL Apprentice 2026?
Selection is mainly based on merit in the qualifying ITI examination. A written test may be conducted only if required.
- Applications are screened on the basis of ITI marks and eligibility.
- If a written test is held, it has 50 objective (MCQ) questions from the trade syllabus, with no negative marking, for 60 minutes.
- A merit list is prepared as per the notified criteria.
- Selected candidates go through document verification before joining.
Applicants from Telangana state are given preference, and a domicile certificate may be required. There is no interview for this apprentice engagement.
