Eligibility Criteria for BPSC District Statistical Officer/Assistant Director 2025
Candidates aspiring to apply for the BPSC DSO/Assistant Director positions must fulfill the specified educational qualifications and age limit criteria.
Educational Qualification
- Applicants must possess a Master’s Degree (Postgraduate Degree) in Statistics, Mathematics, or Economics from a recognized university.

Age Relaxation:
- Candidates who have worked on a contract basis as District Statistical Officer/Assistant Director will be given an age relaxation equivalent to the period of their service. This includes any fraction of a working year. However, the maximum age after such relaxation should not exceed 60 years as of August 1, 2025. A certificate from the Director, Directorate of Economics and Statistics, Bihar, Patna, will be required for this.
- Candidates eligible based on the maximum age limit between August 1, 2010, and August 1, 2025 (as per Personnel and Administrative Reforms Department, Bihar letter no. 212, dated 23.01.2006) are also eligible, provided they meet other qualifications.
- Regularly appointed government servants of Bihar Government are eligible for a relaxation of 05 years in the upper age limit, provided they have not availed more than 05 opportunities to appear in competitive examinations.
- Persons with Disabilities (PwD) are eligible for a maximum age relaxation of 10 years.
- Ex-servicemen will be given an age relaxation of 03 years plus the number of years spent in defense service, provided their actual age on the application date is not more than 57 years. Ex-servicemen and Commissioned Officers (including ECOs/SFCOs) with at least 5 years of continuous military service who were released under normal circumstances (not due to misconduct, inefficiency, or physical disability) are eligible for up to 5 years of age relaxation. SC/ST ex-servicemen will get an additional 5 years on top of existing SC/ST relaxations.
- Full-time NCC Cadets/Instructors recruited after January 1, 1963, will have their actual age reduced by the number of days they served full-time in NCC, provided the resultant age is not more than three years above the upper age limit for the specific post.
Experience
- For candidates seeking age relaxation based on contractual work as District Statistical Officer/Assistant Director, relevant work experience will be considered.
- Weightage for work experience (up to 25 marks) will be given to candidates who have worked on a contract basis as DSO/Assistant Director in Bihar. This will be calculated at 5 marks per satisfactory year of service. The experience will be calculated until the last date of online application, June 24, 2025. This weightage will be added only after securing the minimum qualifying marks in the preliminary and main examinations.

Step-by-Step Application Guide:
- One Time Registration (OTR):
- Visit the BPSC online application portal
- Click on “New user Registration Button” for OTR. This OTR will be valid for future BPSC advertisements.
- OTR is not an application for any exam but a way to collect applicant information and provide a dashboard.
- A valid active email ID and mobile number are mandatory.
- Even if you have registered on the old BPSC portal, you need to complete the OTR process afresh on the new portal.
- Login using your mobile no./email ID and password at BPSC Online Portal.
- Important: Name, father’s name, mother’s name, gender, Aadhaar number, and date of birth entered during OTR cannot be changed later.
- Digilocker Account Integration (Optional):
- After OTR, the Digilocker Meri Pehchan Portal will open.
- If you have a Digilocker account, sign in and provide consent. If not, you can create one.
- You can link documents uploaded on Digilocker to OAMS.
- If you don’t want to proceed via Digilocker, click the browser’s back button to open the Online Application Portal.
- Profile Creation (6 Steps):
- Step 1: Personal Information: Enter caste, category (UR, EWS, BC, EBC, SC, ST), disability details, sports achievements, ex-serviceman status, NCC cadet, government employee details, etc. Click “Save.”
- Step 2: Address Information: Enter permanent address (address, state, district, PIN code) and correspondence address. If same, click “Same as Above.” Click “Save.”
- Step 3: Other Information: Fill in details of any ongoing criminal proceedings or convictions, if any. Click “Save.”
- Step 4: Qualification Information: Enter educational qualifications starting from 10th and 12th onwards. Provide details like qualification name, subject, state, board/university, status (Completed/Appearing), date of passing, attempts, marks obtained, total marks, percentage, duration, division, mode (Distance/Regular), compulsory/optional subjects, roll number, and year of passing. Click “Add” after each qualification and then “Save.”
- Step 5: Experience Information: If you have relevant work experience, click “Yes” and provide details (current/previous, type of employment, department, institute name under Bihar Govt., designation, grade pay, basic salary, date since working). Click “Add” after each experience and then “Save.”
- Step 6: Upload Photo/Signature and Profile Lock: Capture a live photo using a webcam. Upload scanned English and Hindi signatures (max 20KB, width 150-220 pixels, height 250-320 pixels). Confirm all information is correct by checking the box and click “Submit and Lock Profile.”
- After locking the profile, active advertisements will appear under the “New Advertisement Tab.”
- Once you apply for an advertisement after locking the profile, no changes can be made to the details in that application.
- New Application:
- After profile creation, go to the “New Application Tab” to see ongoing/active advertisements.
- Click “View Button,” then “Check Advertisement Criteria,” and proceed. Click “Submit & Pay Fees” to complete payment.
- After completing the application form and payment, go to the “My Account Tab.” Here you can see applied advertisements with options to “Print Application Form,” “Cancel Application,” “Pay Now” (if payment pending), and “Payment History.”
- If there’s an error in the application form, you can cancel it and fill a new one. Note: Fees paid for a cancelled application will not be refunded.
- Payment of Application Fee: Complete the payment process as per your category.
- Final Submission and Printout: After successful submission and payment, download and print at least two copies of the completed application form from the “My Account Tab.” Ensure each page has the Application Number, Application ID, and Bar Code. Keep all related certificates and the hard copy of the application safe for future reference.

- Experience Certificate from the Director, Directorate of Economics and Statistics, Bihar, Patna, for claiming age relaxation and work experience weightage for contractual DSO/Assistant Director posts in Bihar (along with appointment letter, joining report, salary slips as applicable).
- Non-Creamy Layer Certificate for BC/EBC candidates (issued in father’s name for women).
