Central Pollution Control Board Vacancy 2026 — 51 Namami Gange Project Openings

The Central Pollution Control Board, under the Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change, has invited online applications for 51 posts under the Strengthening of Environmental Regulators (SER) Phase-III project on River Ganga. The roles run right across the ladder — Scientist-D, Scientist-C, Scientist-B, Assistant Manager (Finance), Administrative Assistant, Scientific Assistant, Taxonomist, Data Entry Operator and Field Assistant — with consolidated monthly pay from ₹38,741 up to ₹1,71,597, and no application fee for any post.

Applications open on 24 August 2026 at 10:00 AM and close on 7 September 2026 at 23:59 hrs. Postings are decided by the Board — Regional Directorates at Lucknow, Kolkata and Chandigarh, or the Head Office in Delhi. Understand one thing upfront: every post is purely temporary and co-terminus with the SER Phase-III project — contractual, initially for one year, with no right to claim regularisation or absorption against regular CPCB vacancies. GovtJobsAlert.in will post updates as CPCB issues them.

Key Highlights — CPCB Recruitment 2026

The SER Phase-III project is funded by the National Mission for Clean Ganga under the Namami Gange Programme — strong, visible environmental work, and a good fit for candidates scanning other government job openings in the science and environment space.

What is the Salary for CPCB Recruitment 2026?

Every post carries a consolidated monthly emolument on contract, as listed in the vacancy table above — there is no pay band, grade pay or pay level, because these are project engagements rather than regular posts.

Engagement is initially for one year, extendable case by case on performance, and the posts are co-terminus with the SER Phase-III project, funded up to 6 May 2028. Service stands terminated automatically when the project expires or the offer period ends, whichever is earlier. CPCB has also reserved the right to increase or decrease the number of posts, so the final intake may differ from 51.
